hello ! well i am 19 and just bought my first flat its nice and spacious, but i don't have a clue what i need to buy. like do i need a toaster ? i don't know , should i buy one ???? my mum wants to see me fail so i cant ask her! but i would really appreciate it if you could help me because i don't no what i need like every detail. e.g a dryer , does everyone have a dryer ? i don't know a table ? everything i have an argos and Tesco and Wilkinson's book but like i said i just need to know , like in a form of a list or something . ok your help will be much appreciated thankyou xxxxx

It depends on how you live! If you just need the basics, these are what I'd recommend:

Utensils:

A set of cutlery (knife, fork, teaspoon, dessertspoon) usually available as a pack
Set of plain dishes (bowls, saucers, dinner plates) available as a pack
4 mugs
Chopping board
Small sharp 'paring' knife
Larger 'bread' knife
Peeler
Wooden spoon
Wooden spatula
Tin opener
Eggcup/s
Grater

Pans:

One small milk pan
Two medium saucepans (ones with fairly heavy bottoms are best)
Vegetable strainer (it can double as a steamer)
Wok or large frying pan with lid

Other items:

An iron
A kettle
A microwave (if you can get a cheap one, it's a lifesaver)
Fridge
Toaster (if you'll use it)
Freezer
Wall clock
Storage box for cereal
Storage boxes for small meal portions ('Tupperware')
Cling film
Freezer bags
Tinfoil
Storage box for tea/coffee
Dishcloths and tea-towels
Sponges
Washing-up bowl
Dustpan and brush
Vacuum cleaner (just a cheap one can be good)
Vacuum cleaner bags

Detergents:

Washing powder for clothes
Fabric conditioner
Kitchen 'spray' (simple cleaner)
Hob cleaner ('cream cleaner')
Dettol
Domesdos (bleach)


Larger items:

Dish drying rack
Pan stand or cupboard for the pans
Ironing board

Personal essentials:

Storage box or wardrobe for clothes
Lockable box for valubles
Towels (two small, one large)


Total essentials:

Box of matches
Torch
Spare lightbulbs
Loo roll
Screwdriver
Hammer
'Spare change' of 20ps, 10ps (for a dryer service, call box, meter, etc)
Packet of dried noodles
Small alarm clock
Packet of batteries (all useful sizes like AA/AAA/C/D )
Set of spare keys (to give only to a trusted friend/neighbor or family member)

Get above all costs, before you move in:

SMOKE ALARM/FIRE ALARM
C02 ALARM
