dinner set definition image
Q. I am 15 years old, about 6'0, and only 135 lb. Yes, I am really skinny and I can't seem to gain any weight. I don't really do anything active anymore so I can't be burning it all and I eat a lot, I always get seconds at dinner. Anyways, how should I start working out to get my arms more muscular?
Answer
if you start with some bicep curls and tricep extensions at about 15-20 lbs you should be good. alternate between them without pausing--i'd start at ten each and see how many sets you can do. Once you can get to about 10 sets in 5 min, rest 5 minutes and repeat 2 more times. As that because easier with no pauses up it to 15 reps, 15 sets each, and so on.
Do the same with push ups and set ups, 10 and 10 in sets of tens to help with your shoulders , which will help add definition to your arms.
Also, just cause i love running--put in some short runs, maybe 30 minutes and shoot for 5k (about 3.25 miles or 13 laps if your running around a track) than increase distance in quarter mile increments. it will help give your legs definition, and ensure as you add weight it's 1) muscle and 2) not a gut.
Don't worry about the weight--i'm shorter than you, but i didn't "fill out" until I was 17. From 16 to 17 I gained about 70 lbs going from 120 to 190, mostly fat since I wasn't working out and working a drive thru. I got it off years later with a similar program to this, but it would have been easier to start at the beginning.
Good luck!

What do you consider to be family values?

Joshua C
People from both sides of the political aisle like to throw the term "Family Values" around like it's a hot potato. I'm curious, though, as to what that term actually envelops and means to different people?
For instance, my mother, a life-long Democrat, believed that the family collectively gaining understanding was very important. All of us - kids and her - would think of things we were curious about.
Then, on Saturday, we would compile them into groups - animals, mechanics, education - and set out to get answers. Often, we would spend the day at the library doing research or we would set up appointments with local professionals to ask questions for a few minutes each. At the end of the day, we'd all come home and have dinner while discussing what we learned that day.
She believed this lead to more curious, open-minded children who would be better equipped for the real world.
This is just an example from my own life; I'm not using it as a means to judge answers or their posters.
So, to re-focus on the question - what do you consider to be a "family value"?
Answer
"Family values" is such a general term that anything can be fitted into the concept. Yours is a personal and valid definition.
I define it with a more political orientation:
Of course, respect for ones immediate family. But also respect for the greater community and country. And a sense of duty to all of them by being responsible.
I know this is also a general definition but it's part of what I "feel" when I hear the words used.
