will i see a difference? or will i have to do more drastic things?

Answer
Certainly! I have lost 20 pounds by simply making better choices and going to the gym 2-3 times per week for 30 minutes.

For example:

-Drink only water or drinks with sugar substitute. Soda and fruit juices can be up to 300 calories per serving! Cutting those makes a big difference. Try to drink at lease 80 ounces of fluid per day.
-Order something that's grilled instead of fried. Foods that are fried are saturated with fats, and fats are stored directly into your body.
-Order vegetables instead of starches. For example, order some green beans or mushy peas instead of chips or rice.
-Never eat a portion of anything that's bigger than your fist. This excludes fruits and vegetables, which you can eat in any quantity.
-Cut back on bread. Eat one piece of bread with a meal (even use one half of the bun on sandwiches). Try to also eat whole grain breads instead of "white" breads.
-Cut sugars. And, if you want them, eat something small like a Hershey's kiss or fruit dipped in chocolate.
-Eat breakfast lunch and dinner at regular times each day. Snack if you are hungry in between.
-Snack healthier. Instead of eating candy or potato chips, eat a whole grain cereal, some toast, or veggies.

If you live a sedentary lifestyle, your body naturally burns around 1900-2000 calories per day. Therefore you should not eat more than that if you are not active. Women, on average, should consume around 1400 calories per day.

Exercising also helps increase your metabolism. Do running, jump-roping, climbing stairs, or doing some sort of cardio workout 3-4 times per week for at least 30 minutes. This will boost your body's natural production of antioxidants, which helps you metabolize food more effectively to feed your body. Exercise also has many other benefits for your body like decreasing your likelihood of getting certain cancers, heart problems, and bone problems. It is always a good idea to become more physically fit.

Do not fall for those diet gimmicks such as Nutrisystems or pills. Those will not work, and any results will be temporary. The best thing you can do is simply make better, realistic choices about the types of food you're eating and to introduce a cardio exercise regimen. You will lose weight, and you will ultimately feel a lot better about yourself.

This is what I have used. You can take tests to determine your optimal BMI and it will help you know how many calories you should be consuming per day. It also allows you to log your foods and activities, which has been hugely helpful to me. I am able to see exactly what I have eaten, how much I have burned, and the nutritional value of each item that I eat.

Any good Hungarian Recipies?

Ladels Mom

Hi there! im hungarian and i dont know to much about cooking like i should. im looking for some real good recipies, something that i can cook up for dinner or something this weekend.

Answer
Hungarian Sausage

3 lb pork butt, boneless - cut into large pieces
1 lb beef chuck, cut into large pieces
1 lb pork fat, fresh - cut into large pieces
10 garlic cloves, peeled and crushed (about 2 Tbsp)
1 cup water
2 Tbsp salt
1/2 Tbsp black pepper, freshly ground
3 Tbsp Hungarian paprika
1 tsp saltpeter
1/4 tsp cloves, ground
1 sausage casing, 1" diameter, 10 feet

In a meat grinder, coarsely grind the pork, beef, and pork fat, in
batches. Add all remaining ingredients, except the casings. Mix
well and allow to sit while you clean the casings.

Rinse the casings thoroughly in cold water and run fresh water
through them. Drain.

Using a sausage machine, a KitchenAid with a sausage attachment,
or a sausage funnel, fill the casings and tie them off into about
16" lengths. Do not fill them too tightly as they must have room
to expand when they cook.

Hang the sausages in a home style smoker and smoke them for about
1 hour. Do not allow the temperature of the smoker to go above 150
F. Remove the sausages and hang over a stick or dowel. Put the
stick

in a cool place and position an electric fan so that it will blow
directly on the sausages. Allow them to dry for 2 days. They are
they ready for use.

Place them in the refrigerator, where they will keep well for about
a week.

Hungarian Chicken and Dumplings

1 lg chicken
1 md onion, chopped
1 tb vegetable oil
1 tb salt
1 ts pepper
11 tb regular paprika or 3 heaping Tbs Hungarian sweet paprika

3 c all-purpose flour
1 ts salt
5 eggs
3/4 c water
3 c sour cream

Wash and cut up chicken, discarding excess fat. In a large pot,
saute onions in oil until limp. Add chicken, including heart and
gizzard, salt and pepper to onions. Brown chicken quickly, then
add paprika. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes or until chicken is
done. Meanwhile, make dumplings: Mix the flour, salt, eggs and
water in a large mixing bowl until smooth. Dough should be thick,
but not running. Set aside for 10 minutes. Bring 6 quarts water to
a boil in a large pot.

Holding bowl with dumpling batter over water, cut teaspoon size
lumps of batter from edge of bowl into boiling water. Dip knife in
the hot water from time to time so batter won't stick to knife Stir
dumplings from time to time. Cook until the dumplings are firm and
floating on the surface of the water. Remove with a strainer or
slotted spoon. Add well drained dumplings to the cooked chicken
and accumulated juices; heat through. Stir in sour cream and mix
well; do not boil after adding sour cream. Serve immediately.

JSKAI BABLEVES
Hungarian Bean Soup in Msr Jskai Style

400 gram dried beans
400 gram frankfurter (debreceni sausage)
1 smoked ham bone
2 litre water
100 gram lard
80 gram flour
6 dl sour cream
200 gram cleaned carrot
150 gram cleaned parsley root, sliced
120 gram cleaned celery root, sliced
60 gram cleaned onion, chopped
200 gram green bell-pepper, diced
100 gram tomato, diced
2 bay-leaves
salt
Hungarian paprika
2-3 cloves of garlic, minced
parsley
vinegar
homemade pasta (csipetke) made from 1 egg and about 3 cup/10 decagrams flour

Soak the beans for one day in cold water. Cook the smoked hand of
pork until tender. In a large soup kettle (stock-pot) saute the
onion in hot lard, then mix in the sliced vegetables and continue
frying for some minutes.

Pour in the bean and the soaking water, add the cooking liquid of
the smoked hand of pork, the green pepper, tomato and the bay-leaves,
and salt to your taste. Keep warm the meat.

Fry the sausages, and then slice. Using the fat fried out from
sausages make a light-coloured roux, pull away from the heat, add
Hungarian paprika and finely chopped parsley, mix well, then mix
in the minced garlic. When the beans are soft, roux the soup
putting some soup into the roux,

mix well, and then mix the roux back into the soup. Bring to a boil
again; add the most of the sour cream into the soup while stirring.
Season with vinegar to your taste; add the sausage slices and the
pasta chips. Add hot water if needed, and bring to a boil again,
and simmer for some minutes, stirring occasionally.

When serving cut the hand of pork off the bone, dice. Put some meat
into the soup bowls; ladle the hot soup on them. Add some fresh
sour cream to the bowls, and then serve.
