I'm staying there for two weeks on vacation.
I already set aside a budget for a decent Hotel.
I was wondering how much pocket money do i need to bring in order to survive?
Just planning on visiting 1 or 2 must see sights, maybe do a little Extremely Light shopping, and of course buy some souvenirs for the family.
I'll be spending most of my money on Food and Transportation.

Hi,
depends on which hotel you stay. Costs for dinner/drinks etc. can be very high if you stay in a "decent hotel" as you have planned. Dinner for 1 pax with a glass of wine can easily set you back about USD 30 - 40. A beer at the pool costs up to USD 8.50.
If you stay in one of the beach resorts keep in mind that they are approx. 35 kms away from the city, each taxi trip will be around USD 10 one way. Around the 5 star beach hotels there are hardly any alternatives for dining etc.
If you stay in a city hotel prices are less. You'll find unlicensed (no alcohol) restaurants in Bur Dubai where you get a good dinner for less than USD 6 and bars (only in hotels) that sell a pint of beer for USD 4.
Buses are an alternative for taxis, cheap (USD 1) but you need time as they are slow and often crowded.
Shopping in the big malls (Mall of Emirates, Bur Juman, Deira City etc.) is not really cheap. If you go to small markets in Karama (Bur Dubai) or Deira you find good stuff for much less money than in the malls and the prices are often negotiable.

Is this suitable for Dubai shopping in the evening?

age 15, visiting Dubai this summer...is this acceptable for dinner and evening shopping in the Dubai Mall or should I cover my arms?
But in Dubai last summer when I visited I saw tourists go around the mall in maxi dresses with their full arms on show and some even in shorts and tee shirts!

but when u show off ur whole arms and wear shorts its kind of rude and disrespecting to muslims in their countries, but of course no one going to say any thing or do any thing to u.
you can wear bikini on beach , i even saw a women taking sun bath topless last year in jbr and i was shocked and left the area immediatelyØcause am muslim and i cant see women naked cause its a big sin :D
have fun , i really miss uae<3 my second home land . :D
