If a porcelain/ceramic dinner set says made in china is it still antique?

I'm trying to sell a china set on craigslist but I'm not sure if its really antique since it says made in china underneath it. How much do you think it would be worth?

Answer
If it's from one of the many Chinese Dynasty's it could hold Value...
There should be some markings, other then made in china, some company or artists name, some chinese writing or characters of some sort. It not, do you know it's history, how old, who had it before you, and how did they acquire it, etc, etc, If you still are not sure, then take it to an appraiser, look in your yellow pages.
As a ball park Figure if it's from , let's say the Ming Dynasty, perhaps $5,000.00 or more, but that's just a guess, don't want you to get all worked up or anything, some ideas below
this link show some of the markings to look for

What is a gala/dinner party? Any details & specifics?

flyuphigh2

This is for a project for school. I am to host a dinner party of the gala variety. However, I was wondering. What sets a party that makes it so different and special from an original party? What do the ladies and gentlemen usually here to a gala party? Any images? What is usually served and what is usually on the menu? What kind of conversations may there be? (meaning, do the guests specifically talk about something during a gala party?) What kind of entertainment is usually presented during a gala party?

Thank you for all of you who will answer. Each response will be put into great use and will be of great help. =D

Answer
A gala is usually a charity event, meaning a fundraiser for some nonprofit or worthy cause. That means people buy tickets or buy tables to attend, and the price is usually pretty high because it is all for charity -- meaning in the $250 per person and up range. Then in addition to raising funds from ticket sales, there are often additional fundraising activities at the gala, like selling tickets to raffle off a car, silent auction of good wines and gifts, live auction of very nice vacation/resort packages, and the like.

These events are usually formal, black tie or black tie optional. There is usually live music of two or three different kinds, for example a quiet jazz combo to play during the cocktail hour, also something quiet as background music during dinner, and then sometimes a dance band (Big Band or Jazz) for after dinner. The food and wine will all be first class, and sometimes will be donated by restaurants and wineries. Many sponsors will donate other things needed to stage the gala as well, like table favors, departing gifts, flowers, accounting services. All of these donors do it for free publicity in the event advertising and programs, and it helps the gala organizers make sure that as much money as possible from the ticket sales goes to the charity instead of having to cover the gala costs.

Of course the biggest charity galas in most cities are very high society events, and all the "A List" types go to see and be seen and show off their latest designer ballgowns. The events can be huge, I have been to galas with over 1,000 people. But of course, if you host or attend a gala in the right frame of mind, it is all just great fun, and makes you feel good that you are helping a worthy charity.
