My boyfriend and I have been living together for 6 months. I have a 2 year old and he has a 4 year old. Both are boys and they share a room. We are both single parents. My boyfriends son's"Mother" moved 3000 miles away and doesnt call so I have very comfortably become a role model for Dyllan. My son's "Father" is also not involved and my son looks up to my boyfriend. The problem is me establishing a routine for the boys during the day that we can all stick too. I stay at home with the boys during the day while my boyfriend works in the military. We get up around 7 and nap time is at 1 and my boyfriend gets home around 3. I need to implement some structure during the day so our time together goes a lot smoother and we can't seem to find our niche. Anyone have any suggestions pertaining to a schedule? Nap time is becoming difficult. I like to do a lot of hands on activities with the boys. They really like art projects that we do. Im having a hard time with a schedule. Suggestions?

Answer
0700- wakeup, everybody pee, get dressed
0730- breakfast
0800 -dishes in dishwasher [ boys can and should help with non-breakables ] ,food put away, table wiped.
0830- make beds, put away pjs, brush teeth
0900 - mommy does errands, or does daily chore
[ bathroom, vacuuming, dusting, etc.- boys should help with this too at their age level -they can wipe counters and faucets with pre-sprayed paper towels, push vacuum in middle of room, give them clean socks to wear on hands and they can dust coffee table, chair legs, etc.
1000 - outdoor play time! park, backyard, walk, etc.
1100 - indoor play time - books, art, blocks, making cookies/brownies, anything not electronic[ cleanup at 1150 ]
1200- lunchtime
1230- clean updishes and food, wipe table
1 PM- nap [ if they won't sleep, at least make them rest or 'read' a book - mommy can do one chore or do something she likes!]
3 PM - Daddy's home - he plays with boys or gets them to help him do 'jobs'- weeding, raking, washing/vacuuming car
5 PM- help make dinner- set table, get out nonbreakables from fridge, rip lettuce for salad, grate cheese
6 PM - dinner, then clean up [ this is when you do the last table wipe so it really is clean, and straighten out the dishwasher, and sweep the kitchen while the other parent does baths]

Funny pranks anyone :)?
