I hosted a formal pot luck dinner and someone brought a dessert that looked like cat turds in a kitty litter box! I was so disgusting that it almost made me want to vomit! How could I set that next to the beautiful desserts other guests brought without offending them?

Answer
Assuming you made it clear that it was a formal dinner in your invitation, I would be blunt and tell them that the dessert isn't in keeping with the formal theme of your party. Once they see the desserts that other guest brought, maybe they'll understand why. Next time, you might want to assign that person a food to bring and not risk it.

What should I have for dinner for the next two weeks? I am starting my first job after college and need ideas!?

What should I have for dinner for the next two weeks? I am starting my first job after college and need ideas! I just cook for myself. I don't' want anything really complicated and I am trying to eat healthy. I'm 6'1 and 203 lbs and trying to get down to 180. Also if I could freeze leftover to take to work that would be awesome. I am not a great cooker, and am relatively new to cooking for myself.

Here are some of my really easy, but delicious recipes. To make them lower in fat, choose lower fat options, such as fat free cream cheese or low fat cream soup...

Oven Pork Chops

6-8 medium-thick pork chops
1 can cream of chicken soup
3 Tbsp. ketchup
1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 medium onion chopped

Brown pork chops in a little oil, season with salt and pepper and place drained pork chops in shallow baking dish. In saucepan, combine soup, ketchup, Worcestershire and onion, heat just enough to mix and pour over pork chops. Bake, covered 350 for 50 minutes. Uncover for the last 15 minutes.

Cola Chicken

4-6 boneless, skinless chicken breast halves
1 cup ketchup
1 cup cola
2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce

Place chicken in 9x13 casserole. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Mix ketchup, cola, and Worcestershire, pour over chicken. Cover, bake at 350 for 50 minutes.

Easy Creamy Chicken

6-8 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1 can cream of chicken soup
1-3oz package cream cheese
1-8oz carton sour cream
3-4 green onions, chopped

Place chicken in 9x13 dish. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, and good seasoned salt. In saucepan, combine soup, cream cheese and sour cream on low heat just until cheese melts and ingredients mix well. Pour mixture over chicken, sprinkle green onions on top. Cover, bake at 300 for 1 hour. Uncover and bake another 15 minutes. Serve over noodles or rice.

Nacho Chicken

6-8 chicken breasts (or 8-10 chicken thighs)
2 cans nacho cheese soup
¾ cup milk
3 tbsp worchestershire sauce

Place chicken in large baking pan. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, and a spicy seasoned salt. Combine soup, milk, and worchestershire sauce in saucepan until just heated through. Cover and bake at 350 for 1 hour.

Cheesy Pepper Steak

1 ¼ pound sirloin steak, cut in strips
Seasoned salt
1-16oz pkg. frozen bell pepper and onion strips, thawed
1-16oz pkg. cubed Mexican processed cheese

Sprinkle steak with seasoned salt. Coat large skillet with non-stick vegetable spray and cook steak strips for 10 minutes or until no longer pink. Remove steak from skillet and set aside. Stir in vegetables and ½ cup water and simmer for 5 minutes or until all liquid cooks out. Add cheese and turn heat to low. When cheese melts, stir in steak until heated through and serve over hot cooked rice.

Sweet ân Spicy Chicken

1 lb. boneless, skinless chicken breast
3 T. taco seasoning mix
1 (11 oz.) jar chunky salsa
1 cup peach preserves

Cut chicken into ½ inch cubes. Place chicken in large resealable bag. Add taco seasoning and toss to coat. Brown chicken in a little oil. Combine salsa and preserves, stir into skillet and bring mixture to a boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer until juices run clear. Serve over rice or noodles.

Classic Chicken

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
¼ cup lime juice
1 pkg. dry Italian dressing mix
½ stick butter, melted

Season chicken with salt and pepper and place in a shallow pan. Combine lime juice, Italian mix, and butter. Pour over chicken. Cover and bake 1 hour in 350 oven. Take off cover last 15 minutes of baking.

Easy Salisbury Steak

1 ¼ lb. lean ground beef
½ cup flour
1 egg
1 can beef gravy

Combine beef, flour, and egg. Add a little seasoned salt and pepper. Mix well. Shape into 5 patties and place in a shallow baking dish. Bake uncovered at 350 for 20 min. Drain if needed. Pour gravy over patties and bake another 20 minutes. Serve over noodles or rice.

Spicy Chicken and Rice

3 cups cooked, cubed chicken
2 cups cooked rice
1 can fiesta nacho cheese soup
1 can tomatoes and chopped green chilis

Combine all ingredients and mix well. Spoon mixture into a greased 3 qt baking dish. Cook, covered in 350 oven for 45 minutes.

Beef Salsa Skillet

1 lb. lean ground beef
1 can tomato soup
1 cup chunky salsa
6 flour tortillas, cut into 1 inch strips
1 ¼ cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese

Brown beef in skillet. Drain. Add soup, salsa, ¾ cup water, tortilla pieces, half of cheese and salt and pepper to taste. Bring to a boil. Cover and cook over low heat for 5 min. Top with remaining cheese and serve.
