I work for one of the top consulting firms in the US, doing Executive Finance Mgmt Consulting. I have been approached by 2 companies setting up shop in Dubai but I dont have a good feel of what their compensation packages look like.. i know the answer is "depends" but in general, how are compensation packages and cost of living compared to the U.S.... thanks
Answer
The biggest hassle is accommodation as the property price are cooked & all the housing agents are useless crooks. If this is taken care of, then you are pretty much ok.
A proper studio apartment would cost you around 80k aed/ year, 1 BR would be 100k, 2 BR 130k, 3BR 160k.
Gasoline is cheaper compared to US, foods are more expensive (than asia) but there are still some range of choices.
Monthly gasoline cost prob would range in 400-500 aed/ month. lunch would cost you between 15-30. Dinner prob 20-50.

why is Obama approval rating on the decline?

math

53% disapproval per latest CNN poll. This is biggest disapproval rating since January 2009
Way I see it: question is about Obama.

My guess would be that this drop of five or so points in popularity is temporary...and a collective reaction to the people's lack of understanding over the leaked information from TRAITOR Edward Snowden that a databank of millions, maybe even billions, of phone numbers has been established (lawfully...with the required subpoenas and warrants, I might add) by the National Security Agency (NSA).
Once people come to grips with the truth of their anonymity (there is safety in lots and lots of numbers, the more numbers the better) in this databank and the simple fact that all electronic devices since the invention of television or the launch of our first satellite in 1953 leave a trackable signal trail, the hysteria will settle and President Obama's well-deserved popularity will rise once more. The databank is authorized under section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act and was approved by both the required FISA Court (something the Bush administration tended to bypass) and the more secretive 11-judge Federal Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC), the latter overseen by all three branches of government: Administrative, Judicial, and Legislative.
Ever since I was a young girl way back in the 1950s, the FBI has been able to "red flag" anyone's phone number if the caller(s) used buzz words to trigger the red flag, like "bomb" or "assassination" etc. My electronics-whiz career-military dad used to laugh at the gullibility of people who believed that TV ratings came from a fictitious "Neilson family" (what we were all told), when the use of our TV set sent off a signal that could be tracked. Have any of you called your cable company and noticed that the person on the other end of the phone could tell you how many TV sets you have, which ones were on, and what channels each were tuned to---even if the other person was in Dubai or some other foreign-nation locale? If you happen to use a cell phone, what do you think of the GPS (Global Positioning System) that is built in? Lists of customers are often sold by your phone company or cable company to telemarketers and other dinner-time-calling pests. Most phone companies now have deals for their customers that allow unlimited calls to foreign nations, something I'm relatively certain the Tsarnaev brothers in Boston and Air Force Major Malik from the Fort Meade shootings made use of a time or two. Having a databank of phone numbers MAKES SENSE, so once people accept this as a nonintrusive (unless they use triggering words or call recognized terrorist groups) national security necessity, you watch...our nation-saving war-ending bin-Laden-catching jobs-creating President Obama will rise to high popularity once more.
