Engagement party gift?

My good friend is getting married(no date set yet)and they are having an engagement party in a few weeks. I have never been to an engagement party. I know when you go to a wedding the rule of thumb is usually 50.00 per person as a gift. What applies to an engagement party gift. She already owns her own home so really doesnt need stuff like that. HELP!!! Thanks to those who answer.

Simple gifts for engagement party, something like a gift card for dinner out.. lots of pre-wedding stress, people tend to not want to cook for themselves. ( they might be looking for that perfect place to do the rehearsal dinner, and you can suggest a place)

DIY anniversary gift?

Q. So this year is our 3rd year (dating) anniversary. Last year I made him a "100 reasons why I love you" scrap book. He loved it. Does anyone have similar ideas? Its not something we go all out on, we are both college students and are super tight on money. I just want to be able to give him something special(:

Set the bar now, me and my wife agreed on no gifts for Anniversaries, birthdays, holidays, we just go out for a nice dinner to celebrate.
