Some Questions:
How long is the travel time from Cape Town to:
-Stellenbosch
-Cape Point
-Boulderâs Beach
-Hout Bay
-Camps Bay

What is the best way to travel between these places? By taxi? Car service?

In Day 4, for both choice a & b, will we be able to reach Cape Point and enjoy the place or will it be too late by then? Will we still have time to wander around the Cape of Good Hope?

Which one is better for Day 4, choice a or b?

Should we try to squeeze in a township tour in our schedule? If so, when? And what should we take out?

Is the Gold of Africa Museum in Cape Town good? Should we tour Schwartz Jewellers in Sandton (Johannesburg) instead? Both?

Is it true that Malaria is a cause for concern when visiting Kruger? Are malaria pills advisable?

Should we join a tour to go to Soweto and the Apartheid Museum? Canât we go there ourselves?

How long is the travel time from Johannesburg to the Cradle of Humankind? Will we still have room to visit other things afterwards?

Is my itinerary too hectic? Iâm traveling with parents who hate roadtrips and younger siblings who get tired easily.

Are the places weâre visiting okay? Are we missing anything more important?

Any other advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!
Day 11
Schwartz Jewellers
Elephant Sanctuary

One more question:
Should I spend more time in Cape Town? Less in Kruger? Less in Johannesburg?

Answer
I have some recommendations:
Day1: If you are lunching in Greenmarket Square and you are interested in history, go to the Old Townhouse. There is a little courtyard where you sit and eat. It is also home to a very fine Dutch art exhibition. http://www.iziko.org.za/museums/michaelis-collection-at-the-old-town-house

If you do not already have plans for dinner, look at &Union on Heritage square (no reservations accepted). They have the best beers in town (and also very good food!). &Union is also situated in a church built in 1801 and has a lot of interesting history. http://www.andunion.com/where/StStephens/index.html

Day 4: Make it: breakfast at Camps Bay (early breakfast!) then take Chapman's peak drive to Hout Baai. There is a lot of great little shops in that town and you can easily spend a day there, so just skip Cape Point, it's not that great. Remember to visit the pier at Hout Baai, you might want to lunch there as well. On this night, or any night you can, if you get back to town before sundown, drive up Signal Hill and have a picnic up there while you watch the sun set over the ocean. They view is amazing! Take a blanket, bottle of wine and snacks if you want. Don't go too late because the sun goes quick once it's started and you'll want to leave as soon as it gets dark, along with all the other tourists.

Travel time from Cape Town to:
-Stellenbosch - 45 minutes
-Cape Point - 45 minutes
-Boulderâs Beach - not sure
-Hout Bay - 40 minutes
-Camps Bay - 5 minutes, it's just over the hill

If you haven't seen a township yet it would be great for you to do such a tour! But I can't imagine canceling any of these awesome days. I would maybe cancel Day 5 as you are already going to get all the safari you need in the Kruger.

The gold museum is nice, but if you are interested in museums in general and not necessarily jewellery, the Castle of Good Hope is by far the best. There is a little restaurant inside and free guided tours every hour. They also have a little 'ceremony of the key' every day at midday.

I think the amount of days you are spending at each place is absolutely perfect. Your schedule might turn out a bit hectic, but I'd say rather over plan and then drop one activity on the day if you need to. Even though there are even more to see in Cape Town, you can't choose better than you have and you can't pack more into this one visit.

btw, I have never needed to take malaria tablets for the Kruger!
Enjoy!
