Without looking it up, does anyone actually know what the word CHRISTMAS means?

potentiall

. . . now you are informed, do you know how to partake of it?
Nearly, it means "anointed feast" since Christ means "anointed one" and he came to give/anoint people with His Spirit.

Only people that have received that (evidenced by speaking in tongues) are enjoying Christ's feast!
(Jude 3, 12, 20; Acts 2:4, 39; Isaiah 25:6)

Answer
It is derived from the term Christ's Mass, meaning the mass or church service when the birth of Christ was celebrated. It has Catholic origins.

Yes. . . I do. I'll be in Church this Christmas as always, although not at "mass" as I am not a Catholic Christian. But I will also eat dinner with my family, open presents and enjoy the Christmas tree, even though these traditions are not of Christian origin. They have become reminders of Jesus's birth for me, and so the choice is a very personal one.

BTW. . . you've certainly set off a fire-storm here by simply referring to the origins of the word. Interesting! Good question . . stars!

Are their any BUFFET STYLE italian or pasta restaurants in nyc?

My friends and I are trying to set up an event for all 4 of us the day before christmas eve since we have family dinners and can't spend christmas with each other. Where can we go? Anything downtown manhattan?

Answer
Osso Buco has two locations and both are family style dining with very large portions. Both locations, one near Union Square and the other on the Upper East Side, are very good with excellent service and tasty food. http://ossobucony.com/
