How do I program my Universal Remote to my TV?

Ok, the remote control came with my DISH Network 500 Satellite. And, I want it to turn off/on(tv) , change channel(tv), and change volume. That's it. Anyway I have the codes but I'm not getting the hold down and all the crap. I would really appreciate any help. Please?

I have seen this before
the manual that came with your reciever
may not be the right one

the process is very simple on DISH remotes
however if the codes supplied in the manual
dont match the ones in your remote
it can be a frustrating experiance

call DISH they will walk you thru it
and if they cant help you a servicer will
be sent to your home

changing the TV volume is called VOLUME remapping
be sure the reciever volume is set where you want it 1 st

changing the TV channel requires hitting the TV device button 1st and isnt really used while viewing sattelite programming

and lastly you didnt say what TV you own
not all TVs are made by the name on them
a good example a very nice 50" Philips TV
was actually a Hitachi I preferred using the Hitachi
remote when repairing them

My iPhone 3GS was in one of my jacket's pockets and it went into the washing machine for about 15 minutes until I realized it was in there. It was inside an Otter Box but the water still penatrated it, and it won't turn on. Is there a way to get rid of the water damage without having to dish out $500 for a new one? And I'm not eligable for an upgrade either.

(1) IMMEDIATELY REMOVE THE BATTERY. VERY VERY IMPORTANT!
(2) As soon as possible (preferably within 20-30 minutes). dissassemble the phone using Torx T6 screwdriver. (Get this off eBay or service depots, etc) Make an emergency trip to Sears/RadioShack/ACE/service depot/etc.
(3) Clean/dry as much as you can, using Q-Tips
(4) Dry the electronics components under a desk lamp on a paper towel for 24 hours.
(5) Use a blow dryer, set on warm. Blow dry the phone. Make sure your battery and sim card are out of the phone.
(6) Put your phone in rice for 24 hours w/ battery and sim out
(7) Reassemble the phone
(8) Put back together
(9) Only now it's safe to put the battery back in.

You can also leave the battery and sim out. Leave your phone out in the sun. Let it dry.
