What is a good tour group in Thailand?

For a senior that is very active and a 13 year old. We like to have a small group tour that includes the basic stuff with some extras like Elephant rides and palace tour in bangkok and floating market, etc. We looked at General Tours, Kensington, etc.

Just for your information, getting a tour in Thailand is real simple! After you get to Thailand find the nearest travel agency to your hotel and check out their menu selection of tours. Tour company picks you up at your hotel and returns you there at the end of the trip. You do not have to set this type tour up from your home - you can do it in Bangkok (or Chiang Mai, or Phuket, etc.!)

This is a group tour, usually around 9-11 people in a van. You will be with other tourists. Lots of selections to choose from. You can make arrangements for private tours with just you and your kid but that is more money. Up to you! Lots and lots of travel agents in Bangkok. Some hotels even have tour desks that do the same thing as what you find at travel agencies, but they may cost a little more.


The things you want to see are pretty common. Get some information on the "Bridge on the River Kwai" and see if the kid will like that. There are dinner cruises too!

Usually you can find a tour at a travel agency in the morning and be on that tour that same afternoon or evening. Select a tour the night before and leave the following morning. When you go on tours or any time you are away from your hotel for a couple hours always have some TP and hand wipes in your walk around bag. Many toilets do not have paper and maybe no water to wash hands with. Better safe than sorry!

Well you could always go cycling,jogging or swimming since it pretty much tones everything. If you dont like sports then what you can do is that you set out a little diet time table. Record down what you eat for breakfast, lunch,snacks and dinner and roughly estimate the number of calories. If you find that theres too much in a paticular food item then what you can do is either stop eating it or you could switch it with something else. Hope this helps and good luck on the trip! :)
