I am looking for an set of antique blue and white China dishes. Does anyone know what these dishes are called and possibly where I can purchase them?

Answer
There is another blue and white pattern that has been around for a long time and is still made...it is called Blue Danube. If you are looking for a type of blue and white dish that was made in England from about 1840 to 1910 you might be looking for Flow Blue. It is a descriptive name given to the blue and cobalt glazed dinnerware of the time and made by dozens of manufacturers in hundreds of different patterns. The name refers to the way the stenciled blue glaze would "flow" into the white causing blurry edges and giving a slight tint to the white part. It is possible to find full sets of flow blue but may take years of searching antique shops and would be extremely expensive. The dishes are so beautiful on their own though that a mismatched set would still be attractive and highly prized.
