Kodak m763 pictures are coming out like purple xrays or completely black. Help!?

Gnurse

I don't know if someone changed a setting at the dinner party I was at last night, but the pictures began looking like this: http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b21/ncnurse/Picture070.jpg
What the heck is wrong with it? Everything looks completely dark or it comes out with the purple colors.

Answer
It's in a picture enhancement mode. You probably set it to backlight mode. Change the scene mode back to normal/auto/ or something else mundane.

Fire fighters memeorial dinner ideas?

shucibeara

Help!! I need to put together a memorial benefit dinner for a great guy who was a war vet, fire fighter. I need some ideas. I worried about doing something dumb. I've done lots of fund-raisers but not with this topic. I know you guys will come up with somethings to and not to do. Wow looking at my choices below I hope I put this under the right category. Thanks

Answer
If they are available, have pictures of him in action blown up and framed, then set around for everyone to see. Frame any letters of accommodation he received, too. If you have access to his medals, have those displayed in a shadow box. Have a couple of speakers - either people he served/worked with, or someone who he had an influence on.

Need help finding dinnerware to match my decor?

Tiffany A

I have a wine/grape decor in my kitchen and am looking for the perfect dinnerware to complete the look. I have small children and would prefer a set that is chip and break resistant and love the look of the square dinnerware.

Here is a link to some of the decor in my kitchen:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?VISuperSize&item=380159275169
That link appears to be broken. Here's another:

Answer
The square dinnerware seems to be very popular. I saw some nice stuff in our local Target but you might also want to try Bed, Bath and Beyond and even some Walmart SuperStores.
Target even had some square Corelle dinnerware that is lightweight but very durable. The designs varied.

Looking at buying Wood/Bamboo Dinnerware and need help?

Sunshine S

Found a set at Bed Bath and Beyond, but wondering if there's a another great brand someone uses or knows of! Also, is there any reason to not use it? Or is there information I should know prior to buying? Any info/ help would be appreciated! Thank you!
If not using the dishwasher is the only problem, I'm not too worried as I prefer to hand wash! But thank you!

Answer
I don't think you will be able to disinfect this dinnerware. It is porous and will retain all stains from foods and oils. When this happens, you can get sick.

What does this Japanese Symbol say?

What does this Japanese Symbol on this Tray say?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280972721428

Answer
It's a piece of inexpensive and popular Chinese plastic melamine dining ware (the style is not Japanese, it's Chinese).

This particular pattern style is exported all around the world. As another answer here states, the Chinese character in traditional writing 壽 (shòu - simplified is 寿) means "longevity" (a common "good luck" character for Chinese, when other different good luck wishes could also be for long life, happiness, health, prosperity etc.), and that is the very name used for this pattern series of melamine ware. The particular piece in the picture is a small sauce dish (not a "tray" as stated on that Ebay page) divided into two sections so that two types of sauces can be placed in the one dish and used for the table setting.

Here are three places on the Web where the whole series of melamine dining ware in the Longevity pattern is being sold (and stating that the supplier is GET Enterprises) [ http://www.foodservicedirect.com/index.cfm/S/262/CLID/4429/N/124359/Longevity-Dinnerware.htm ] and [ http://www.wasserstrom.com/restaurant-supplies-equipment/cooking_longevitydinnerware_1000148 ] and [ http://www.zesco.com/Longevity-Pattern-Melamine-Dinnerware-sz3554.htm ].

And here are two more including the UK Ebay: [ http://www.asianfoodgrocer.com/category/japanese-dishware-longevity ] and [ http://stores.ebay.co.uk/tradewindsorientalshop/Melamine-Ware-/_i.html?_fsub=1863872011&_sid=829750821&_trksid=p4634.c0.m322 ].

You will find pictures of that exact same two-section sauce dish in the last link as well as the first link.

All the various pieces of melamine ware in that "Longevity" pattern series have on them that "longevity" Chinese character in traditional writing.

Brazil Dinner Set up?

Richard

Im doing a report for a food class and I chose Brazil. There is not much info on the net for some of the stuff I am looking for so hopefully someone can help.

What are the table appointments at the dinner tabel? (Such as is the man always at the head? Do women serve the men first? Chidren eat first? Who gets the largest portion?, etc...)

Is there a certain etiquette at the dinner table?

Who and when is the food prepared?

Are these different depending on the region your in?

Thanks for any help you can give!

Answer
Yes, the brazilian dinner set up has untill now some french details, but usually in the "A' la carte" restaurants (French service or English service).
At home we like to use the Brazilian Service (serviço à brasileira), but some restaurants do the same in the brazilian regional tipic ones.
We don't like anybody serving our plates. The maid usually sleeps and cook in our home (It is easy to have one) or she can come every day (not sundays, our favorite family and relatives lunch day).
She set up the table as in the english service, one glass for water or juice, the fork on the right...but the food is on the table and sometime the women likes to serve the man or children, SOMETIMEs. The idea is "don't be shy".
The most tradicional familys like when the maid does the indirect English service. When the food is served on your right. The man of the house has a specifc chair, but the women should sit on the right chair.
Everybody in a modern family can sit wherever they want, but sometimes the brothers and sisters like to fight for the best place, haha. And sometime the father has his favorite place (even in the modern familys the man can be the head).
The first pice of a birthday cake you must give to the oldest woman in your family or your to your mother. You can give to someone special if you have a specifc thing to say.
Our BBQ party is meat, not hot-dogs! We like "farofa" (flow) and Vinagrete (salad).
The "feijoada" (beans, vegetables and others partys of the cow or pork) is very popular too, we eat with rice and "farofa".
The meat, the beens, rice, vegetables, juice and organic things are cheeper here and we like to have every single day.

Aluminum dinner plates?

Janet S

I am looking for websites that sells Aluminum colored dinner plates, cups, bowls, serving ware, platters, pitchers please.

Answer
Russell Wright is known for aluminum ware, including dinnerware and serveware, it is collectible and beautiful, like art. The pieces are made of spun aluminum.

There are also sets of aluminum pieces, some with anodized, colored coatings, at retailers and catalogs everywhere. Try at these retailers:

Crate and Barrel has polished aluminum sets and individual serving pieces and also a Lines brand of items

Wendell August Forge sells decorated platters and ornaments made of aluminum, pewter, etc

Any army/navy surplus store has camping and extreme gear sets that include these pieces

Amazon has an anodized tumbler, pitcher set and I think you can get chargers for placing under dinner plates to match, in silver aluminum

Target has the retro drinkware collection including ice cream cups and matching accessories made of spun aluminum (inside) and colored, anodized exterier

Nambe does very good, but pricy aluminum pieces, also, but they tend to be highly polished.

Pottery barn had silver coloredmetal chargers that looked like spun aluminum, but I don't know if post-Christmas, they still have any.
