What is a good tour group in Thailand?

Hartz 6

For a senior that is very active and a 13 year old. We like to have a small group tour that includes the basic stuff with some extras like Elephant rides and palace tour in bangkok and floating market, etc. We looked at General Tours, Kensington, etc.

Answer
Just for your information, getting a tour in Thailand is real simple! After you get to Thailand find the nearest travel agency to your hotel and check out their menu selection of tours. Tour company picks you up at your hotel and returns you there at the end of the trip. You do not have to set this type tour up from your home - you can do it in Bangkok (or Chiang Mai, or Phuket, etc.!)

This is a group tour, usually around 9-11 people in a van. You will be with other tourists. Lots of selections to choose from. You can make arrangements for private tours with just you and your kid but that is more money. Up to you! Lots and lots of travel agents in Bangkok. Some hotels even have tour desks that do the same thing as what you find at travel agencies, but they may cost a little more.

The things you want to see are pretty common. Get some information on the "Bridge on the River Kwai" and see if the kid will like that. There are dinner cruises too!

Usually you can find a tour at a travel agency in the morning and be on that tour that same afternoon or evening. Select a tour the night before and leave the following morning. When you go on tours or any time you are away from your hotel for a couple hours always have some TP and hand wipes in your walk around bag. Many toilets do not have paper and maybe no water to wash hands with. Better safe than sorry!

Good luck.

How can i loose 15-20 kg till December?

me :P

in december im going to thailand, so i really want to be in perfect shape to wear a bikini... if you have any idea on how i can loose that much weight till then, please tell me! thanks :)

Answer
Well you could always go cycling, jogging or swimming since it pretty much tones everything. If you dont like sports then what you can do is that you set out a little diet time table. Record down what you eat for breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner and roughly estimate the number of calories. If you find that theres too much in a paticular food item then what you can do is either stop eating it or you could switch it with something else. Hope this helps and good luck on the trip! :)

what music do Canadian adults listen to?

Ryan

i am planning a party for Canadian home owners and was wondering what is some good music they would enjoy. Something easy to listen to.
I am an employee at a home building company throwing a community party for about 350 people

Answer
It's kind of like asking, what do American adults listen to? It really depends.

Myself, I'm from Toronto, almost 50, and there isn't a genre of music I don't like. Most of the time, you will find me listening to rap/hip-hop. But if I had to pick two fav. genres, it'd be classical and dancehall. I also listen to a lot of jazz and blues. The pre-sets in my car are #1 classical 96.3, #2 Flow 93.5, #3 jazz.fm 91.1. I also like Bhangra, bagpipe, J-pop, world music, and reggaton.

Basically everything. Not too much country, folk, rock, or metal, though.

:-)

EDIT: All that said, I've found when having group events, you can't really go wrong with cool jazz over dinner, and/or classic rock songs most people over 40 know. R&B can also be a good choice, assuming it isn't too fast or too slow. ...Nothing too jarring, unless you know that's the taste of the majority of attendees.

When I have mixed parties, I play a fair bit of jazz, with some of my favourite, funkier world music thrown in. Invariably, people compliment the musical selections, and always inquire about "that African-sounding song" or "the one in Portuguese with the groovy beat." these are my personal parties, so I like sharing my music with others. But corporate events are more about making sure everyone is comfortable, and there's nothing too extreme.

How can I get my sleep back in sync?

Q. For the past 3 weeks, I've some how fallen into falling asleep around 6am and waking up at 4:30pm every day. This is the longest I've ever been in a cycle like this, the cause is my boyfriend is currently 6 hours behind me, and now I'm on his sleep cycle exactly.
If I wake up at a decent time from a night of being restless, I'll pass out later in the day.

Answer
Try treating your "screwey" sleep schedule like Jet-lag.

I'm constantly facing jet-lag in my day to day life. Don't mistake this, I'm not some jet-setting playboy, but losing three hours here and two hours there (sometimes twelve if the boss really "likes" me) really takes its toll on sleeping schedule. The only way I've been able to combat this is through a forced schedule.

Now, in the case of a plane ride you have to take into consideration if you're gaining time or losing time. This dictates whether to sleep during the trip or to stay awake. Considering you don't need to hop on a plane, I'll spare you that detail.

Once on the ground, I take account of the time. If it's 8am and I just ate dinner on the plane. The best solution here: force a breakfast. NOthing hearty, but a muffin or a piece of fruit. This puts me on track for the rest of the day. Likewise, if lunch was at twelve o'clock when I left, but it's now approaching ten o'clock when I land, I'm going to have to skip a meal, and lay down in bed to get ready to force a schedule.

You may be saying: "I don't care about food, I want to fix my sleeping habits." I'm getting to that." Your body works on an internal clock, it understands when you need to be active and when to go into it's more natural state of sleep. forcing your schedule will reset this clock, it'll feel awful for the first day or two, but it will reset quickly and you'll feel no side effects.

Here's an example. I once made a flight into Liverpool from Toronto. as many of you know, england is about five hours ahead. Now, when I left it was about 6 in the evening on a Tuesday. by the time I arrived it was 7 in the morning the next day. I stayed awake the entire flight doing work (I had no choice). When I arrived, I just wanted to collapse, so I did. The next three days were hell.

The next year, I had the same flight, again same scenario and time (roughly). Now even though I was dead tired, I forced myself to stay awake and take in a few sights. I didn't get to bed until about 9:30 in the evening. I know, not incredibly late, but even though the first day was hell, I felt better the rest of the trip.

I have kept to this regiment ever since with similar schedules and with fantastic results.

So, force your schedule. When it's 4:00 in the afternoon, instead going to sleep cause you're tired go out and do some shopping. If it's 8:00 am, and you still feel tired start setting multiple alarms or put your clock across the room so you're forced to get up to turn off the alarm and wake yourself up (I use hotel alarm clocks, set my phone on alarm and have the front desk give me a wake up call).

You may feel like crap for a day or two, but your clock will reset.

gittilygoo

I want to do something special for my girlfriend tonight. So tonight I want her to come home to a nice, romantic, candlelight dinner. I really haven't cooked much, but I want to try it tonight. Does anyone have any recommendations as to what I should make? Or the presentation or anything? I want to put on a really, really nice dinner for her tonight. Your help is appreciated. Thank you.

Answer
Good luck and I hope that you both enjoy!

Appetizer: Red Pepper and Tapenade Slices
1 (8-ounce) can crescent rolls (recommended: Pillsbury)
1/2 cup marinara sauce (recommended: Prego)
1/2 cup jack cheese, shredded (recommended: Kraft)
3 tablespoons blue cheese, crumbled
1/4 cup olive tapenade
1/3 cup roasted red bell pepper, cut into strips
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
Remove crescent dough from can and unroll. Separate into 8 triangles. Lay pieces of dough on baking sheet. Top each slice with a spoonful of marinara sauce, some shredded jack and blue cheese, a spoonful of olive tapenade, and red bell pepper strips.
Bake in oven for 12 to 15 minutes, or until edges are golden.

Pasta: You Won't Be Single For Long Vodka Cream Pasta
This recipe will make enough for 2 couples. If you plan a romantic evening where more than two's a crowd, reserve half the sauce to freeze for another supper before the addition of basil, and only cook 1/2 to 2/3 pound of penne.

1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil, once around the pan in a slow stream
1 tablespoon butter
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 shallots, minced
1 cup vodka
1 cup chicken stock
1 can crushed tomatoes (32 ounces)
Coarse salt and pepper
16 ounces pasta, such as penne rigate
1/2 cup heavy cream
20 leaves fresh basil, shredded or torn
Crusty bread, for passing
Heat a large skillet over moderate heat. Add oil, butter, garlic, and shallots. Gently saute shallots for 3 to 5 minutes to develop their sweetness. Add vodka to the pan, 3 turns around the pan in a steady stream will equal about 1 cup. Reduce vodka by half, this will take 2 or 3 minutes. Add chicken stock, tomatoes. Bring sauce to a bubble and reduce heat to simmer. Season with salt and pepper.
While sauce simmers, cook pasta in salted boiling water until cooked to al dente (with a bite to it). While pasta cooks, prepare your salad or other side dishes.
Stir cream into sauce. When sauce returns to a bubble, remove it from heat. Drain pasta. Toss hot pasta with sauce and basil leaves. Pass pasta with crusty bread

Main Course: Garlic Roast Chicken with Rosemary and Lemon
2 1/2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into large chunks
6 cloves garlic, crushed
3 tablespoons fresh rosemary leaves stripped from stems
3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, eyeball it
1 lemon, zested and juiced
1 tablespoon grill seasoning blend (recommended: Montreal Seasoning) or, coarse salt and black pepper
1/2 cup dry white wine or chicken broth
Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.
Arrange chicken in a baking dish, 9 by 13-inch. Add garlic, rosemary, extra-virgin olive oil, lemon zest and grill seasoning or salt and pepper to the dish. Toss and coat the chicken with all ingredients, then place in oven. Roast 20 minutes. Add wine and lemon juice to the dish and combine with pan juices. Return to oven and turn oven off. Let stand 5 minutes longer then remove chicken from the oven. Place baking dish on trivet and serve, spooning pan juices over the chicken pieces.

Salad: Your Basic Tossed Salad
2 hearts romaine lettuce
2 small plum tomatoes, diced
1 Kirby cucumber or 1/4 European seedless cucumber, diced
1 small yellow onion or 1/2 red onion, chopped
1 carrot, peeled and shredded
1 /4 cup (a couple of glugs) extra-virgin olive oil,
2 to 3 tablespoons (a couple of splashes) red wine vinegar
1 teaspoon sugar
Coarse salt and black pepper

Place salad greens in a salad bowl and top with tomatoes, cucumbers, onion, and carrot. Place oil, vinegar and sugar in a small plastic container. Put the lid on the container and shake dressing until sugar dissolves, about 1 minute. Pour dressing over salad. Season salad with salt and pepper, to taste, and toss to combine.

Chocolate Cups with Whipped Cream
Make your dessert first for this menu to allow these chocolate cups to set and chill: This recipe is a no bake pot de creme, no kidding.

2/3 cup whole milk
1 egg
2 tablespoons sugar
Pinch salt
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
2 tablespoons hazelnut liqueur or dark rum
4 demitasse cups
1 cup whipping cream
2 tablespoons sugar
Mint sprigs, for garnish, optional

Heat milk in a small pan over moderate heat until it comes to a boil.
In blender or food processor combine egg, sugar, a pinch of salt, semisweet chips, and liqueur. Run processor or turn on blender to low setting. Pour in boiling milk in a slow stream. The hot milk will cook egg and melt chocolate. Process or blend 1 minute, until smooth.
Spoon chocolate into 4 demitasse cups and chill. After dinner, beat cream until soft peaks form. Add a little sugar and beat to combine. Top the chocolate cups with a dollop of cream and garnish each cup with mint sprigs.
Place cups on saucers and serve with demitasse spoons. If you use teacups, this recipe will yield 2 cups, rather than 4.

Anyone have any good ideas of what I should take to a potluck dinner?

hagren

I have to go to a potluck dinner tomorrow night. I can bring a dessert, salad, or hot dish, anything goes. I am tired of potatoe salad, and coleslaw. Any ideas?

Answer
CUCUMBER-GARLIC DIP
MAKES ABOUT 1-1/2 CUPS

The first time I had this dip, it was prepared by a woman of Greek heritage. I believe she used yogurt. Whether you use that or the sour cream, it is so good and very easy and light. Add more or less garlic to taste, but I like lots. Serve with vegetable crudites, crackers or pita wedges.

INGREDIENTS

1 medium cucumber, peeled, halved, seeded and cut into chunks
1 cup plain yogurt or sour cream (I use reduced-fat)
1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 tablespoon freshly chopped chives (freeze-dried may be used)
Salt and pepper to taste
Place all of the ingredients in a processor. Process until smooth but retaining some texture. Taste for seasoning. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour. Garnish with additional chives. Serve with raw vegetables.

FOUR-BEAN SALAD
SERVES 6-8

I guess everyone has a recipe for bean salad. Try this one. It is exceptional.

INGREDIENTS

BEANS

1 16-ounce can green beans
1 16-ounce can yellow beans
1 16-ounce can red kidney beans
1 16-ounce can garbanzo beans (chick peas)
1 green bell pepper, chopped
1 medium onion, chopped
2 stalks celery, chopped
DRESSING

3/4 cup sugar
2/3 cup cider vinegar
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/3 cup vegetable oil
Drain beans; mix together with vegetables. Thoroughly blend together the dressing ingredients. Pour dressing over beans and toss. Refrigerate overnight. (Can be prepared 2-3 days ahead.)

PIEROGIE CASSEROLE
SERVES 6

If you like pierogies, you will love this. It's also a great way to use leftover mashed potatoes. I usually serve it as a main dish, but it makes a nice side dish as well, in which case it would make 10-12 servings.

INGREDIENTS

8 ounces lasagna noodles
2 large onions, diced
8 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, grated (2 cups)
4 cups mashed potatoes, made fresh or leftover
4 tablespoons butter
Salt and pepper to taste
Cook noodles according to package and set aside. Brown the butter in a medium skillet, being careful not to burn. Add the onions and sauté until softened and lightly browned. Combine the cheese and mashed potatoes. Butter or spray a 13x9x2-inch baking dish. Line the bottom with a layer of noodles. Add a layer of potato and cheese mixture then spread with a portion of the onions. Continue to layer the ingredients ending with a layer of noodles topped with onions. Bake at 350° F for 15 to 20 minutes, or until bubbly and lightly browned. Tent with foil if the top browns too quickly.

Notes: Browning the butter adds a lot of flavor to the casserole. If you prefer, it could just be melted. If making freshly mashed potatoes, use about 8 large potatoes. If you don't have enough leftover potatoes, add some fresh or make some from instant potatoes. The recipe can easily be halved.

BAKED CHICKEN WITH DIJON AND BALSAMIC VINEGAR
SERVES 4 to 6

There are unlimited ways to season chicken or other poultry before baking or roasting. This recipe uses a simple marinade that can be prepared ahead or brushed on chicken parts just before baking. It's my favorite way to prepare cutup chicken because I can decide at the last moment to do it. A good old standby.

INGREDIENTS

1 whole chicken (3-1/2 to 4 pounds) cut up, or bone in chicken parts as desired
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
3 large cloves garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
1/2 teaspoon dried sage leaves
1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary leaves
Salt and pepper to taste
2 tablespoons Balsamic vinegar (can substitute red wine vinegar or lemon juice)
1 tablespoon olive oil, or enough to drizzle over chicken
Preheat oven to 400° F. Place the chicken in a single layer in a 13x9x2-inch baking dish, on a baking rack if desired. Brush or spread each piece lightly with Dijon mustard. Sprinkle with the garlic, thyme, sage, rosemary, salt and pepper. Sprinkle with the vinegar, then drizzle lightly with olive oil. Place in the oven and bake until chicken is brown and done, basting occasionally with pan juices, about 50 minutes. This is good hot or at room temperature.

Notes: The ingredients can be mixed in a small bowl and poured over the chicken. The chicken and sauce can also set to marinate for about 30 minutes at room temperature or for a longer time in the refrigerator. You may omit the olive oil. Garlic powder may be substituted for the fresh. This is also great cooked on the grill.

BERRY AND KIWI COOKIE CRUST PIZZA
SERVES 10 to 12

It is my guess that many of you made this recipe long before I did. I first ate a fruit pizza of this type at my mother-in-law's. She is no longer with us, and my husband always liked her recipe, so I decided it was time to give it a try. As you can imagine, it is as basic as all the others you find scattered among many recipe pages on the web, probably all variations of a Pillsbury original. I just really like my combination of fruit. If you prefer a crust that is less sweet, use refrigerated pizza or pie dough. Of course, you can also make your own.

INGREDIENTS

1 package (18 ounces) refrigerated sugar cookie dough
1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened (can use reduced fat)
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
2 or 3 kiwis, peeled and sliced
2 cups of washed, hulled and sliced strawberries
1 cup fresh blackberries, rinsed and well drained (can substitute blueberries or use a combination)
1/4 cup apricot jam (or other light colored jam)
Freeze dough for about 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 350° F. Cut dough into 1/2-inch thick slices. Place on a lightly greased or sprayed 15x10-inch baking sheet with sides or in a 14-inch round pizza pan, spaced apart fairly evenly. Press into bottom, with floured fingers, until it forms one flat, even sheet of dough, with a little lip on the edges. Bake until golden brown, about 12 minutes. Cool completely on baking rack.

In a small bowl, beat the cream cheese, sugar and vanilla until smooth. Spread over the cooled crust. Layer the kiwi, strawberries and blackberries in that order. Heat the jam in a small saucepan until warm, adding a little water if needed to get to spooning consistency. Spoon as evenly as possible over fruit. Refrigerate at least 1 hour before serving. Cut into squares. Store leftovers in refrigerator. (After a day, the crust will start to get soggy from the fruit.)

What do the different stamps on the back of my blue garland johann haviland china. All bavarian, some astricts?

dinnerware sets deals

dinnerware sets deals image

teari

some one astrict and some have two, others have bars on each side. Each say bavaria, germany not thailand

Answer
Stamps on china indicate where they were made. The manufacturer's name will be on most of them. Modern items would have to include the country of origin (by international trade laws or agreements). Some might also have the design or pattern name, or a code for it. Hand-painted items also often have a code mark for the painter, the rest is put on with a stamp.

Very old china often only had scratched marks, not stamps. Some cheaper bulk things also lack a proper stamp. Particularly all-white table china is often not stamped, but the required information is in the mould, so it comes out as "engraved" on the item. This might get filled in with the glaze, so look like there is almost nothing there.

Yours says Bavaria, Germany, so that is where it was made. Johann Haviland is the name of the factory. Johann was the son of Charles, an American who set up a pottery in France (where the clay was suitable for the quality he wanted) to make dinnerware for the US market. Johann branched out with a pottery in Bavaria (another suitable clay area). Both businesses went through many changes of owenrship. The Johann Haviland name is currently owned by Rosenthal, another well-known German pottery.

The bars and asterisks could indicate the batches or production line the particular items came from.

The Blue Garland pattern was first made in 1970, but discontinued in the 80s (when the company changed hands again). Being good quality, and not for "everyday" use, many pieces still exist. Replacements for broken ones are fairly easily available at reasonable prices, if you need to complete a set. (Just Google "Johann Haviland")

http://www.antique-china-porcelain-collectibles.com/porcelain_mark.htm
will give you an idea how complex the matter of marks is, though it mostly deals with real antiques. Your set would fall under the heading "collectible" but is not old enough to be antique.
http://www.robbinsnest.com/johann-haviland/
is a good site for replacements, probably cheaper and more reliable than trying on Ebay.

It would be a little easier to be sure about the arrows, if you had put in pictures of what you mean. For next time, you can upload pictures to Flickr or Photobucket, then put the links in here.

>>> You asked this in the USA, Dallas section, which is really meant only for questions relating to the city of Dallas. This kind of question might get better answers in
Games & Recreation - Hobbies section (has a lot of questions about collectibles) Home & Garden is another category read by people likely to know your answer.

I have nothing. I am starting from scratch. Does anyone have any tips on how best to supply my home? Where should I start. It seems like the list of stuff I need is neverending! I am exited, though, so I would appreciate any help. Thx!
WOULD ANYONE HAPPEN TO KNOW WHERE TO FIND LISTS OF APARTMENT NEEDS FOR EACH ROOM? I DON'T WANT TO MISS ANYTHING. IS THERE ANYWHERE ONLINE?

Answer
First, I'm assuming you're a "poor college student" or something like that. If not, most of this advice probably won't be particularly applicable.

Now: buy everything you can second hand. There's no point in bankrupting yourself for your first apartment (or any apartment). One exception I would say would be a bed. I don't buy bed's secondhand, but some people are okay with it.

Don't get a huge apartment if it's just you. If you can survive in a studio or 1 bedroom, do so. Again, no point bankrupting yourself when you don't need to.

Check out sites like Craigslist.org and check out the "free" sections. People are always giving away furniture and kitchen stuff when they move away. You can find a lot of decent "starter" stuff that way and save yourself a lot of money. Yard sales are also good for this. You don't need the full kitchen of stuff either. A couple of small to medium sized saucepans with lids, and a large frying pan with a lid is more than enough to start out with unless you're a gourmet cook. Hell, by most people's standards I am a gourmet cook and I still only use 3 or 4 pans. Everything else just isn't truly necessary. It may seem like a good deal to get a 94 or 120 piece kitchen set for $120, but only if you actually use everything. You won't. Go buy the inexpensive (but decent) single pans for $10-$20 each and get the three or four I mentioned. Save the rest of your money for bathroom stuff or sheets for a bed.

If you want semi-decent, cheap stuff new, check out Ikea or the big dollar store type places. You can get a lot of stuff for really cheap if you shop carefully. I bought a couple of inexpensivedecent quality, dinnerware sets (to seat 4 people each) for $14 total at Target too, so if you look around you can find cheap stuff.

Don't try to buy everything at once. Buy the important things (cookware, dinnerware and bathroom stuff as well as a bed) and then gradually accumulate more as time passes. Books are perfectly okay on the floor and a tv isn't essential immediately. If you have a TV, you don't need to spend a lot of money on an entertainment center since most TVs are okay on the floor or a small stack of bricks and a board.

All of these things make you look like a poor college student, but odds are most people around you will understand that. And it's much better to look like a poor college student when you actually are one than looking like one 10 years after you've graduated because you spent all your money while you were in school and are in debt up to your eyeballs.

I have this dinnerware set that has 4 of each of the following, dinner plates, salad plates, bowls and coffee cups.1 coffee cup got broken and I would like to replace it.
The set is white with dark blue edging.all it says on the bottom is Stoneware and Made in china. I have had the set for 18 years.Where should I look to find a replacement?

Answer
Without knowing the maker of the dinnerware, it's going to be hard. Stoneware is just what the dinnerware is made of and not a brand and hundreds of makers produce stoneware dinnerware.

If you can find out who the manufacturer is, you can go to a china replacement service. There may be one in your area, just check the yellow pages, or go to an online on like replacements.com.

Where can I find a large, empty picnic basket (Without spaces for plates, cups, etc)?

My parents have a picnic basket that used to be my great-grandmother's. It has no compartments, no special dinnerware or anything inside, it's just a big woven box, basically. It's now falling apart, and I want to get them something similar, but I can't find it anywhere! Everytime I search for "Picnic basket" it comes back with sets that include plates, cups, etc. and come in a smaller basket than I am looking for.

I now work in the entertainment industry working as the Facilities Assistant. When it comes to planning parties and company events everyone in the office loves how the events turn out. I always get compliments on the dinner parties my husband and I have and everyone thinks I need to do a career change. I love planning social events and could really see myself planning small wedding, dinner parties, retirement dinner, anniversaries etc. but I have no idea how to start a business. If there are any entrepreneurs out there please lend some advice. Thanks in advance!

Answer
A working plan that you specifically design explores your market and your business structure. Many people skip this step, yet if you haven't surveyed all your options, you may miss out! We like to plan and organize social events, yet the first thing to organize is your business operations. Sound unexciting? Well, perhaps----yet put your "creative nature" aside for a minute and assume a "business" stance.

For example, do you limit it to only small events? Only parties? Will you branch out to all-occasion events? You may only want to target one service area, yet branching out into other avenues (i.e. sales) may assist in producing additional revenue for you. Does your targeted market call for a specialized coordination? Do you want to set up a small store front? Do you go into partnership with a friend or family member or go solo? How will your set up your business records? These are a few things I have on a very long list to consider when developing your working plan. Your "hobby turned business" must turn a profit or why do this? Thinking like a "business-minded" person, channels your goal which is - making money with your talents. Every town has a need and the trick is to find what is needed and be the best. Find your place in this growing market. The idea is to find the niche in the market for your area that has a gap. If children's birthday parties are in need of someone to offer this as a service, then that might work best. Perhaps you desire to be the coordinator for Open House Celebrations, Ribbon Cutting Ceremonies for new businesses or even Note Burning Ceremonies when the debt is being paid off. You can work with the visitor's bureau in your area and make contact with businesses and non-profit organizations. How about catering a chocolate fountain or "candy store" with several crystal bowls full of candy only be be scooped up with a silver scoop! But most important of all is look into a Solid business plan in that field from a book store like Borders and get tips from a mentor in the business and live the dream girl the only person standing in your way is you :o)

What are some creative, unique, ideas for a theme dinner?

Risa Ray

I need to plan a dinner for 35 university officials in March. It can be anything classy or fun or informal. The theme needs to be used in the menu, entertainment, and decor...

Answer
a Louisiana theme with the Bourbon St. beat...jazz music, Cajun cuisine, colorful Mardi Gras beads, masks-purple , gold, and green decor and fleu-de-lis.

An Italian theme (though not original) is always fun done up like a bistro...red and white tablecloths, cloth napkins, loaves of bread served on a wooden cutting board with knife, bottles of Chianti, candles, antipasto platters, cheeses and grapes.....music can be Italian seranades with a fun Tarantella added. Foods served in gondola boats>>

Nautical/Seaside theme>>seafoods, shrimp (and other non-seafood for choices)...nautical style itself is understated and traditional.

Navy and white are the go-to nautical colors. Add a sable brown in with the decor as a nod to the ropes used on sailboats, too. It provides a nice contrast with the navy and white, and helps create a more balanced, richer color scheme for the nautical dinner party.

Tablesetting:

Though any combination of the navy, white and sable color scheme would work well for the dinner table, here's what we suggest if you don't know where to begin:

* Tablecloth - A khaki to sable colored linen; bonus points for interesting textures (like true linen, or a soft burlap)
* Table runner - Create a table runner out of navy and white wide-stripe fabric. For a six foot table you will need approximately three yards of fabric in order for it to hang nicely over each end of the table. If you are in a time crunch, simply fold the fabric over once or twice (depending on the width) and lay over the table to create a long 15" - 20" wide runner for a bargain price.
* Plates - Standard white plates will look great on this place setting, although renting navy charger plates is a great way to take the look to the next level.
* Place cards - If calligraphied, use navy place card paper with white or bronze ink. If printed, add a small nautical rope knot frame around the individual's name before printing the place card out.

Make a welcome arch using 2 life preservers and an arched cardboard banner between them over a doorway. Candles on tables in bowls wrapped in fishnet.

Music: anything with the word "sail" in it....easy listening--"yacht club music" on web.

I work for one of the top consulting firms in the US, doing Executive Finance Mgmt Consulting. I have been approached by 2 companies setting up shop in Dubai but I dont have a good feel of what their compensation packages look like.. i know the answer is "depends" but in general, how are compensation packages and cost of living compared to the U.S.... thanks

Answer
The biggest hassle is accommodation as the property price are cooked & all the housing agents are useless crooks. If this is taken care of, then you are pretty much ok.

A proper studio apartment would cost you around 80k aed/ year, 1 BR would be 100k, 2 BR 130k, 3BR 160k.

Gasoline is cheaper compared to US, foods are more expensive (than asia) but there are still some range of choices.

Monthly gasoline cost prob would range in 400-500 aed/ month. lunch would cost you between 15-30. Dinner prob 20-50.

why is Obama approval rating on the decline?

math

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2013/06/17/cnn-poll-obama-approval-falls-amid-controversies/
53% disapproval per latest CNN poll. This is biggest disapproval rating since January 2009
Way I see it: question is about Obama.

Answer
My guess would be that this drop of five or so points in popularity is temporary...and a collective reaction to the people's lack of understanding over the leaked information from TRAITOR Edward Snowden that a databank of millions, maybe even billions, of phone numbers has been established (lawfully...with the required subpoenas and warrants, I might add) by the National Security Agency (NSA).

Once people come to grips with the truth of their anonymity (there is safety in lots and lots of numbers, the more numbers the better) in this databank and the simple fact that all electronic devices since the invention of television or the launch of our first satellite in 1953 leave a trackable signal trail, the hysteria will settle and President Obama's well-deserved popularity will rise once more. The databank is authorized under section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act and was approved by both the required FISA Court (something the Bush administration tended to bypass) and the more secretive 11-judge Federal Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC), the latter overseen by all three branches of government: Administrative, Judicial, and Legislative.

Ever since I was a young girl way back in the 1950s, the FBI has been able to "red flag" anyone's phone number if the caller(s) used buzz words to trigger the red flag, like "bomb" or "assassination" etc. My electronics-whiz career-military dad used to laugh at the gullibility of people who believed that TV ratings came from a fictitious "Neilson family" (what we were all told), when the use of our TV set sent off a signal that could be tracked. Have any of you called your cable company and noticed that the person on the other end of the phone could tell you how many TV sets you have, which ones were on, and what channels each were tuned to---even if the other person was in Dubai or some other foreign-nation locale? If you happen to use a cell phone, what do you think of the GPS (Global Positioning System) that is built in? Lists of customers are often sold by your phone company or cable company to telemarketers and other dinner-time-calling pests. Most phone companies now have deals for their customers that allow unlimited calls to foreign nations, something I'm relatively certain the Tsarnaev brothers in Boston and Air Force Major Malik from the Fort Meade shootings made use of a time or two. Having a databank of phone numbers MAKES SENSE, so once people accept this as a nonintrusive (unless they use triggering words or call recognized terrorist groups) national security necessity, you watch...our nation-saving war-ending bin-Laden-catching jobs-creating President Obama will rise to high popularity once more.

I'm visiting a friend in the Denver area in a few months. They're new to the area too, but I want to make the most of the vacation.

We'll be at a hotel on 16th Street for 2 nights (for the night before and after a Broncos game).

We just want a few suggestions for places to go and hang out, eat, and just generally have fun!!

Answer
Here's the 9 best!

Denver Restaurants

Fresh Fish Company
7800 E Hampden Ave, Denver, CO 80231-4885 ·
303-740-9556

SOUTH DENVER. Fresh Fish Company's bright, cheery decor is as pleasing as its delicious seafood selections. Start off with crab-stuffed mushrooms, and then try spicy Creole Barbecued Salmon or perhaps Cedar-Planked Arctic Char. Or, let the chef make the decision when you order a Mixed Grill (two kitchen-selected seafood items). Landlubbers can look to prime rib and filet mignon meals. Lobster, crab, and shellfish are available as well, and an excellent Sunday brunch features even more fresh fish. Reservations accepted.

Mizuna
225 E 7th Ave, Denver, CO 80203-3504 · 303-832-4778

CAPITOL HILL. The Capitol Hill gang lays laurels at the feet of this Contemporary American eatery, which is known (almost) as much for its ambience as for its innovative menu. A handful of conservatively appointed tables dot the intimate dining area; soft lighting and professional, unobtrusive service help complete the elegant scene. Featured dishes twist traditional American favorites - macaroni and cheese with lobster or Maple Leaf Farm duck with balsamic jus number among the stalwarts. Since seating is limited, reservations are a must.

Sushi Uokura
815 Nile Ct, Golden, CO 80401 · 303-278-8000

GOLDEN. Juxtaposing homespun charm and modern pizzazz, Sushi Uokura breaks out of the mold of typical sushi places. The restaurant is housed in a refurbished cottage and provides a comforting, if somewhat odd, backdrop to stellar sushi. Feast on noodle dishes, sukiyaki, and even steak, but don't forget the sushi. Yellowfin tuna, red snapper, salmon, and Spanish mackerel are cut precisely and crafted into superb rolls that you'll come to crave again and again. Reservations recommended.

Wynkoop Brewing Company
1634 18th St, Denver, CO 80202-1212 · 303-297-2700

LODO. Occupying one of Denver's oldest buildings, the multi-level Wynkoop Brewing Company was the first genuine brewpub in town and remains its favorite. The ground floor is a family-friendly dining room with a menu of traditional pub grub and American-regional favorites. Upstairs is a classy, often crowded pool hall with 22 tables. If all of them are occupied, you'll have time to enjoy a handcrafted brew â the Railyard Ale and Sagebrush Stout are tried and true winners. Finally, in the basement, the Impulse Theater group presents wickedly funny improv to sold-out audiences. This is as "Denver" as it gets!

Cafe Brazil
4408 Lowell Blvd, Denver, CO 80211 · 303-480-1877

NORTH DENVER. Café Brazil has been satisfying Denver's need for spicy Latin American food for more than a decade now. Smoked meats, fresh seafood, fried rice, savory sauces, and zesty spices take much of the credit for the menu's success. Notable dishes include arepas (corn cakes) and feijoada completa, a stew of beef and black beans. Consistent cooking and delightful presentation have made this North Denver restaurant a diner's paradise. Credit cards not accepted. Reservations recommended.

Gabriel's
5450 N Hwy 67, Sedalia, CO 80135-8014 · 303-688-2323

SEDALIA. Looking for a unique place for a special occasion? Gabriel's is a perfect fit. Located in a restored Victorian house, this Italian restaurant offers exceptional northern Italian cuisine in an elegant, upscale atmosphere. A cozy fireplace illuminates the intimate dining room and sets the stage for perfect dinners. Savory pastas and a notable wine list satisfy even Denver's most discriminating tastes. Outdoor seating available on warm days. Dressy attire. Reservations recommended.

McCormick's Fish House and Bar
1659 Wazee St, Oxford Hotel, Denver, CO 80202-1313 · 303-825-1107

LODO. Those in the know consider this happening seafood restaurant one of Denver's best. Always packed for dinner, it also features a lounge that's recognized as one of the hottest bars in town. Seafood items include appetizers of oysters and caviar and main dishes of sturgeon, salmon, and lobster. Steaks, chicken, lamb, and duck appear on the menu to appease non-seafood-lovers. Menu items change nightly, and the wine list is very good. Reservations are recommended.

Stella's Coffeehouse
1476 S Pearl St, Old South Pearl Street District, Denver, CO 80210-2227 · 303-777-1031

SOUTH DENVER. Stella's draws coffee-lovers but also proves popular with folks who appreciate live music. Guests are often regaled by the tunes of area performers, who play for tips and recognition. Soothing sounds range from jazz to classical, and the warm, comforting interior features obligatory bookshelf-lined walls. Enjoy your favorite hot drink while settling in for good tunes or some conversation with friends or associates.

Sushi Den
1487 S Pearl St, Denver, CO 80210-2226 · 303-777-0826

SOUTH DENVER. Sushi Den has received numerous awards and accolades for its exceptional sushi. Wonderful, high-quality dishes are sure to please, and fresh fish is flown in daily - a practice that makes for a slightly pricier, but more than worthy, menu. The modern decor encourages trendy crowds to visit over sake, sushi, and sashimi. Other notable dishes include teriyaki sesame chicken and roasted sea bass with wasabi-caper buerre blanc. Reservations recommended. Smart casual or trendy dress appropriate.

What vitamins do vegetarians need to have?

Joy

Ok. So after being a vegetarian for a whole year I finally discovered that I needed to have been taking vitamin b this whole time. I've also known for a while that I need to make sure I get omega 3's and I make sure that I get those.

Is there anything else that I'm missing?

Answer
I'm a vegan for past 10 years. My wife is vegan since born, and a social worker too. Both my kids (5y/o, 9y/o) are vegan since born. We managed to "safe" alot the medical bills and spend them for charity services.

Hey Joy, Eating an veg*n diet is one of the healthiest things a person can do for them self and the planet!

If a person is sensible, they can pretty much just give up meat and dairy and not worry about what they are eating, and be a lot better off! Eat a wide variety of plant based foods, fruits vegetables, whole grains... limit salt, sugar, alcohol, refined grains, maintain a healthy weight, excersize... Why couldn't you ? Why wouldn't you?

I don't want to make this into a nutrition numbers site. But it seems that the people who actually question the nutritional aspects of a vegetarian or vegan diet have absolutely no idea how much of anything a person should be getting, and are generally the ones whose diet is lacking in something. Included below are the current findings in what a body needs, and where they are found in a vegan based diet.

The biggest concerns (or excuses) that still arise, when one mentions being vegetarian or vegan, is "How do you get enough protein?" While most of these people asking actually have no idea on how much protein is really necessary. They are still in the mind set of "meat is protein⦠you need protein⦠you need meatâ¦" Where in reality protein is simply amino acids, and your body cannot tell the difference between amino acids whether it comes from a cow or a potato or a laboratory. A better question they should ask themselves is "How do you get enough vegetables? Enough vitamins? Enough fiber? A lot more people get too much protein, that is "wasted" than who suffer from protein deficiencies. Besides, too much protein has been even found to lead to things like prostate cancer among other diseases, and once your body has it's daily supply that it needs, it is just used as calories and converted to fat, which can be done easier and usually less expensive with carbohydrates and/or fats themselves.

There is also an old fashioned idea that you need to "combine foods" at the same time to make it a complete proteinâ¦.. That is false. As long as you are eating a variety of foods everyday you don't have to worry about that at all. You can eat beans for, say, dinner and then rice the next day for dinner, and your body will combine the amino acids making it complete. Although, beans and rice are great together so often are eaten at the same time anyway. As are nuts and grains..... like a peanut butter (nuts) sandwich (bread/grain) = complete protein. Soy is a complete protein in itself, and since soy is such a mainstay in most vegan and vegetarian diet, no one needs to worry about complete proteins ever.

Ok, the remote control came with my DISH Network 500 Satellite. And, I want it to turn off/on(tv) , change channel(tv), and change volume. That's it. Anyway I have the codes but I'm not getting the hold down and all the crap. I would really appreciate any help. Please?

Answer
I have seen this before
the manual that came with your reciever
may not be the right one

the process is very simple on DISH remotes
however if the codes supplied in the manual
dont match the ones in your remote
it can be a frustrating experiance

call DISH they will walk you thru it
and if they cant help you a servicer will
be sent to your home

changing the TV volume is called VOLUME remapping
be sure the reciever volume is set where you want it 1 st

changing the TV channel requires hitting the TV device button 1st and isnt really used while viewing sattelite programming

and lastly you didnt say what TV you own
not all TVs are made by the name on them
a good example a very nice 50" Philips TV
was actually a Hitachi I preferred using the Hitachi
remote when repairing them

Is there a way to get water dried out from inside an iPhone?

Kylie M

My iPhone 3GS was in one of my jacket's pockets and it went into the washing machine for about 15 minutes until I realized it was in there. It was inside an Otter Box but the water still penatrated it, and it won't turn on. Is there a way to get rid of the water damage without having to dish out $500 for a new one? And I'm not eligable for an upgrade either.

Answer
(1) IMMEDIATELY REMOVE THE BATTERY. VERY VERY IMPORTANT!
(2) As soon as possible (preferably within 20-30 minutes). dissassemble the phone using Torx T6 screwdriver. (Get this off eBay or service depots, etc) Make an emergency trip to Sears/RadioShack/ACE/service depot/etc.
(3) Clean/dry as much as you can, using Q-Tips
(4) Dry the electronics components under a desk lamp on a paper towel for 24 hours.
(5) Use a blow dryer, set on warm. Blow dry the phone. Make sure your battery and sim card are out of the phone.
(6) Put your phone in rice for 24 hours w/ battery and sim out
(7) Reassemble the phone
(8) Put back together
(9) Only now it's safe to put the battery back in.

You can also leave the battery and sim out. Leave your phone out in the sun. Let it dry.

vanessab

I'm thinking of renting a venue that has dinner set for 8pm. I want to booze and dance at my wedding! I don't want dinner to go until 10, which only leaves 2 hours for boozing and dancing.

We are having 1 app, a main course and dessert - how long should this take? An hour??

Answer
Have you already set the Menu? We are having
Menu: Appertizers - Cajun chicken puffs, some spinach wrap, and a large fruit and cheese table
Meat -- Chef sliced prime rib on french bread - pork loin on garlic cibbiatta - grilled chicken on crisonti
Vegtable- fried green beans, Mashed and sweet potatoes put in martini glasses with a variety of toppings i.e. bacon, brown sugar.
Dessert- Cake, Cookies and Donuts :)
Open Bar

But all set up as stations to keep people moving and talking... i want to enjoy my wedding and booze too... so i'm with you girl... our reception starts at 7:30pm so i would strongly suggest doing something like this... i think it will allow you to have you cake and eat it too...lol.... without stressing out about dinner taking too long, or anything else.. hope that helps... :)

What should I cook for an anniversary dinner?

em

Thursday is my parents anniversary. I am planning on cooking a surprise dinner for them to celebrate. The thing is I have no ideas on what I should prepare. Any good recipes that I could make for the occasion?

Answer
Here are some ideas, I hope they work out for you and have fun

BONELESS BREAST OF CHICKEN SALTIMBOCCA

6 whole boneless chicken breasts, cut in half
1/3 c. + 1 tbsp. all purpose flour
1/3 c. butter
1/4 c. chopped shallots
3 lg. minced garlic cloves
1/2 lb. mushrooms, sliced, approx. 3 c.

Cook shallots and garlic until soft; add mushrooms, wine, broth and herbs. Bring to a boil and cook for 10 minutes. Stir into the hot mixture 1 tablespoon flour and a small amount of sherry. Stir in remaining sherry and cream. Season with salt and pepper. Pour sauce over chicken. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes.

WILTED SPINACH SALAD

6 radishes, sliced
2 hard-cooked eggs

Wash spinach; tear into bite-sized pieces. Add onions and radishes. Refrigerate, tightly covered. Peel and slice eggs.
Microwave (high) bacon, covered with paper towel, in 2-cup microwave-safe measure 3 to 4 minutes or until crisp. Remove bacon; set aside. Add remaining ingredients to drippings. To make ahead, prepare to this point. Complete just before serving.

Microwave (high), uncovered, 45 to 60 seconds or until mixture boils. Pour over greens in salad bowl; toss lightly. Top with sliced egg and crumbled bacon.

A delicate dressing that flavors the salad as it wilts fresh greens.

ELEGANT LEMON CAKE ROLL

4 eggs, separated
1/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. lemon extract
1 tbsp. vegetable oil
1/2 c. sugar
2/3 c. sifted cake flour

Beat egg yolks until light and lemon colored; gradually add 1/4 cup sugar, beating constantly. Stir in lemon extract and vegetable oil; set aside.
Beat egg whites until foamy; gradually add 1/2 cup sugar, beating until stiff but not dry. Fold yolk mixture into whites. Combine flour, baking powder and salt; fold into egg mixture.

Grease a 15 x 10 x 1 inch jelly roll pan and line with waxed paper; grease and flour waxed paper. Spread batter evenly in pan.

Bake at 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Sift powdered sugar in a 15 x 10 inch rectangle on a linen towel. When cake is done; immediately loosen from sides of pan and turn out on sugar towel. Peel off waxed paper. Starting at narrow end. Roll up cake and towel together. Cool on a wire rack seam side down. Cools in about 20 minutes.

Unroll cake, spread with half of creamy lemon filling and reroll. Place on serving plate seam side down. Spread remaining filling on ends and all sides.

Combine coconut, water and food coloring in a plastic bag or small bowl. Close securely and shake well. Sprinkle colored coconut over cake roll. Refrigerate for at least 1-2 hours or overnight before serving. Yield 8-10 servings.

CREAMY LEMON FILLING:

1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk
1/3 c. lemon juice
1-2 tsp. grated lemon rind
5 drops yellow food coloring
1 (4 oz.) carton frozen Cool Whip topping, thawed (I use just Cool Whip from carton)

Combine sweetened condensed milk, lemon juice, lemon rind and food coloring; mix well. Fold in whipped topping. Yield about 3 cups. Very good. Very pretty for special parties.
Elegant lemon cake roll is a delicate sponge type cake filled and frosted with a light and creamy lemon filling.

What specific products are good ideas for a wedding registry?

dinnerware sets 20 piece

dinnerware sets 20 piece image

para210_99

What things from your wedding registry did you love and still use? Or, what specific products do you wish you had put on your registry (or just gotten as a gift)? (Or, maybe think of the products you've purchased that were the best investments.)

Please be specific (include the brand and product name). For example, "I love my Dyson Ball" instead of "a vacuum cleaner".

Answer
Stirling silver flat-wear: Don't go for "place settings" which involve unnecessary pieces like teaspoons that you still pay full price for. Get a dinner knife and a dinner fork, either a soup spoon or a salad fork (depending on which is your custom for a second course at formal three-course meals) and a dessert spoon. Eight and twelve, the usual number of place settings, are an awkward number to seat at a formal table, so go for six, ten or fourteen place settings instead. Register for them at an established stable high-end store so that they will still be around when you need to add more pieces: Birks if you are in Canada, Tiffany's in the States, Harrod's in the U.K. Choose a not-too-ornate pattern that will survive changing styles: http://www.birks.com/en/featured/Home-Gifts/Sterling-Silver-Flatware/g990/4316

Fine china dinnerware: choose an established china house such as Royal Doulton, Lenox or Portmeiron. Unlike silver, china often comes with a price break if you by a place setting, so it is worth it even if it includes unnecessary pieces. You will need a dinner plate, either a soup or salad plate, and either a dessert plate or a fruit nappy. A general rule is, two out of your three dinner-wear sets -- silver, crystal and china -- should be plain, and one fancy; or two fancy and one plain. Choose a pattern with longevity: http://www.lenox.com/pattern/index.cfm?fuseaction=patDetail&cmCatid=e1242&wid=1&patId=504 is a classic as is http://www.lenox.com/pattern/index.cfm?fuseaction=patDetail&cmCatid=e1242&wid=1&patId=375; but this is a gamble and after a couple of decades www.replacements.com becomes your best friend. The only pattren that seems eternal is Royal doulton's Old Country Roses http://www.royaldoulton.com/GB/Tableware/specials/IOLCOR00840/20+piece+set

Crystal: There's no point in buying anything but Waterford. They maintain their pattern lines in the long term and are (relatively) stable. Choose a traditional pattern like marquis or Lismore http://na.wwrd.com/ae/us/drinkware+bar/wine-glasses/icat/wine_wf/. If you can't bring yourself to pay their prices, you can probably gamble on Crystal D'arques whos crystal is of a much much lower quality, but at least their Longchamps pattern is stable http://www.cristaldarquesparis.co.uk/Templates/FicheProduit.aspx?IDReferenceCommercial=30645. Or get a generic pattern such as cross-and-olive or pinwheel, that is available from many different vendors.

The only appliance I would consider "heirloom quality" and appropriate for a registry is a kitchenaid stand mixer: http://www.kitchenaid.ca/flash.cmd?/#/en/page/home

What is a respectable amount of money to give for a wedding gift to the child of a friend - nobody is rich.?

ajd333333

The couple is 35 and gainfully employed. It's a nice reception at a country club. Please don't answer "It's the thought that counts." Does it relate to the cost to the family throwing the wedding?

Answer
The thought actually does count a great deal: and giving cash fails to show much thought about what would please the couple, or about how they might benefit from your taste and insight. It also suggests the thought that the couple is in need of charity, and could therefore be offensive if they are people of refinement. So, please take the time to choose an appropriate gift that reflects your regard for your friend.

Appropriate gifts of fine crystal, silver or dinnerware, to match the pattern chosen by or inherited by the bride, are traditional gifts; as are good-quality household linens (towels, sheets and tablecloths). A comfortably-off person who is modestly intimate with the couple would normally give a place setting, or two goblets, or a single piece of silver -- a value of 100 to 200 dollars. Someone who is less financially secure or less intimate might give a single dinner-plate or sherry-glass: around 50 dollars. A casual friend or unemployed person might give a bread-and-butter plate: around $20. A close family friend who is well-to-do might give a serving bowl or tureen, a half-dozen glasses, or 400-count egyptian-cotton bedsheets (upwards of $300).

I hope that helps.

I am looking for an set of antique blue and white China dishes. Does anyone know what these dishes are called and possibly where I can purchase them?

Answer
There is another blue and white pattern that has been around for a long time and is still made...it is called Blue Danube. If you are looking for a type of blue and white dish that was made in England from about 1840 to 1910 you might be looking for Flow Blue. It is a descriptive name given to the blue and cobalt glazed dinnerware of the time and made by dozens of manufacturers in hundreds of different patterns. The name refers to the way the stenciled blue glaze would "flow" into the white causing blurry edges and giving a slight tint to the white part. It is possible to find full sets of flow blue but may take years of searching antique shops and would be extremely expensive. The dishes are so beautiful on their own though that a mismatched set would still be attractive and highly prized.

Here are some examples, can you come up with any more?

6 or 7 helium filled mylar balloons, a face mask and snorkel, and a tomato cage can be used to build a lunar excursion module.

A bowl of tapioca, a blond wig, and a large bottle of massage oil is all it takes to clone Pamela Anderson. (This one is from Tommy Lee himself. I think it was right after their first divorce.)

With a roller skate, a box of raisins and a match you can make your own hybrid car.

A badge, a beeping wand, and a clipboard is all you need for a good time frisking women at the airport Curbside Security Service.
I'm going to a family wedding this weekend. I think I'll try your pinata recipe.

Here's a couple more ideas I thought of:

A 10 lb. sack of flour wrapped in plastic and salthered in vaseline, latex gloves, hospital gown and surgeon's mask are all you need to teach a birthing reception class for midwives.

A PHd in Philosophy, a paper hat and a RF telephone headset are the essential ingredients for a drive-thru window operator at Sartre-in-the-Box or Carl's (Jung) Jr.

With only 5 deluxe ant farms, a submarine periscope, and 13 raw steaks
(and you have to fill the ant farms with water that has a little blue dye in it.) and Voila! Your child can look like a one-eyed, underwater alien creature while he waits in the car for you when you're shopping,

Okay, okay, Sorry, I'm just getting the hang of it, let's see...

1 wholeâChupacabra (brainwashed)
1/4 cupâwhole navel oranges
1 tspâchupacabra zest (colored marshmallows may be substituted)
2 cupsâfresh squeezed chickens milk
5 largeâeggplants (unprepared)
1 tbspâdihydrogen monoxide
1/2 tspâTSP
Sneak up on Eggplants so they are totally unprepared, dice and drain and place in a medium saucepan set to 19° kelvin. Peel and eat the oranges. Mix tylenol, barn owl droppings and vanilla extract in a large mixing bowl and whip til frotty, slowly incorporate dry ingredients until stiff peaks form. Thoroughly brainwash chupacabra and let cool in the sun over night for about an hour. Simmer in a pan about half full of kittens for 3 seconds and serve at once.
You've just prepared a delicious dinner for 7 of:
EGGPLANT CHUPACABRA!

Wait, wait too long, I know, I know, that wasn't it. Okay okay...

A paintball gun full of kiwis, an industrial grade meat separator, and any disliked female relative (male relative may be substituted if inverted) and you have a perfect party or picnic substitute for the traditional piñata!

No, no, no Jeez this is a tough one Bill! but I'll get it, here goes...

Forty or fifty pieces of black gum scraped off the sidewalk, a human foot, and a jar of dijonaisse makes hors D'ouvres for a reception of 43!

ALMOST! I've almost got it...wait, was that one right? No. Okay, one more time. Hold on I think I've got it this time...

An 18" x 24" picture frame, some blue construction paper and matching duct tape (18 rolls), and a years supply of botox and you can make a realistic 3-D selfportrait!

Look, I'm gonna have to come back to this one, but I can do it I swear...

An air compressor, a summer dress, a very amenable girlfriend is all you need to make The Headless, Hairy-Chested, Upside-Down Woman Costume.

Yes! Now i've got the hang of it!

4,000 gerbils, 200 tubes of crazy glue, and 4,000 strike anywhere matches and you've got yourself a miniature replica of a Grateful Dead concert audience.

A monster truck, an unhappy woman ignoring you, and a loud obnoxious voice are all perfect ways of announcing to the world, unequivocally, that you have a small penis.

Wearing a pair of dark sunglasses, driving an Oldsmobile, while hanging a walking stick out the window and tapping the ground, with a seeing eye dog sitting shotgun with his paws glued to his eyes. will get other drivers to yield the right of way every time.

A 3 inch piece of wire, a stick of gum, and an invalid credit card is all you need to make people think your about to do what McGyver would do.

A cigarette lighter, a battery powered DVD player, and a time machine are all you need to rule the world...for a while.

I don't know what's wrong with me?

Kat

The basics...
I'm 24 years old. I'm happily married. I don't have children. I have good friends. I'm close to my family. I don't/can't work because of health problems.

Lately I have had trouble going to sleep, like I will be really tired and go to bed and just lay there and my mind won't stop. I will think of things I need to do or things I forgot to do or sometimes even just random things that don't matter. I've tried writing those things down hoping getting them out will help but they don't. I have to pretty much be at the point where my eyes won't stay open to go to bed. When I do fall asleep, I sleep too long. Like 12-15 hours. I set alarms and don't remember them going off. I'm always tired.

On top of that when I'm alone, I feel sad and weird. I feel very isolated and depressed. The only time I'm really happy is when I'm home with my husband. I never want to go anywhere and sometimes I don't even want to get dressed.

My mind is always a lot more active than my body, I hate the house being dirty but when I try to clean I hurt. My back always hurts and it hurts to be on my feet too much or bend too much. I have a lot of medical issues that involve joint and muscle problems. I sit here day after day wanting to be able to clean and organize my house and when I try, I can't. I want to be able to make money and help with bills and things but I can't.

I don't know what's wrong with me. I need to see a lot of different doctors which I'm aware of but I wanted to know if anyone else feels this way? or if anyone knows what's wrong with me?

Please, don't tell me that I'm lazy. It has nothing to do with that and people try to give me that s**t all the time. Lazy people don't WANT to do anything. I just can't. Sometimes I try to force myself to be active and then pay for it for days. Like last week I cleaned the whole house and made a nice dinner and I felt like I was hit by a train ever since then.

I know this is in the wrong section but I asked it before in the right one and didn't get many answers. Please don't give me crap for that.
Welsh-I've actually wondered that myself, I don't take offense. I want to know what people think the problem might be.

Answer
Dearest ,

You should be sure that you're not alone in this , there are so many people all over the world that have the same problems in common .

All you need to do is taking some time to rest your mind and make it up ; You're probably feeling werid because you don't really know what your goals are .

Take a shower , lay on your bed , bring a piece of paper and write down these questions :

# what really makes me happy ?
# what should I do when I feel lonely ?
# how to escape the bad moods ?

Take your time , answer these questions very carefully .

As for the "loneliness" , that's really normal .. and its okay to feel that way , actually when you feel alone , it's a hint that you are ALIVE , and this feelings will not last forever , it will pass honey , the future is going to amaze you , because you'll never know what is hidden for you .

I understand that you want to clean and such , I suggest that you call any cleaning services and let them come over your house once a week or something , if you dont have money , ask your family's help (sisters , mother .. etc ) , and if you can't do that as well , I suggest you start cleaing step by step .. don't do everyone in one shot , just step by step and you will be amazed from the results .

Remember that there's absolutely nothing wrong with you , you are just human-being that gets happy , sad , angry and scared sometimes .. it is human nature honey .. you dont have to worry about it .

Pray for God.. he is the answer of all that has been and all that will be , I'm sure you'll make it through .. you seem to be a very strong and successful wife and woman .

How would you set the tables for a buffet wedding?

We will be having an outdoor ceremony followed by an indoor reception. I was thinking because the bride&groom take pictures following the ceremony while the rest of the attendees are ushered inside we should have some sort of appetizer such as spinach dip in bread bowls. We are also having a cash bar so I want to each table to have a bottle of champagne or wine. How would you set the tables for this with the floral center piece, wine/champagne and bread bowls?

Answer
Get long tables, or double-decked tables for a buffet style. You can incorporate the "center pieces" by doing, say, two dishes in a row, then piece, then two, then piece, and so on.

A good secret for buffet-style is making sure that everything is easily accessible and that the food won't hold people up, so make sure that you have a spoon for the dip so that people can put it on their plates if they so choose. I wouldn't recommend giving them the option to just stand around and dip. This is unsanitary. Put small plates by everything so guests know to just put it on their own plates and not hover around the food.

Edit: Forgot to mention that I'm going to be doing this as well. We're only going to rent about ten tables for our 100 guests, as my mother's back yard has tons of extra seating. We're going to get some spare chairs, too. We think is appropriate to do this because we're not having a formal sit-down dinner. Just get some empty round tables as well and put some center pieces on those and that way people can sit or not.

What Dinner recipes do you have?

I just moved out of my mothers house a couple months ago and i am needing some dinner recipes, i do have a 19 month old so it would need to be kid friendly also. Thanks

Answer
I make this soup often. It is easy and most kids like the tortellini. I would chop up the spinach and wilt it for the baby. If the baby doesn't eat whole foods very well, you can also mash up the tortellini and cut the chicken in tiny pieces. It has been about 100 years since I had a toddler running around. You can halve this recipe also.

Tortellini, Chicken & Spinach Soup
Yield: 4 Servings

1 Pkg. Barilla Three Cheese Tortellini (Dinner for 2 size)
6 Cups Low Salt Chicken Broth
1 ½ cups cooked chicken from a rotisserie chicken or poached chicken breast
2 Cups Baby spinach, washed and roughly chopped
Salt & Pepper to Taste
Grated Parmigiana or Asiago cheese

Prepare Tortellini according to package directions, set aside or refrigerate.
Shred or cut cooked chicken into strips, set aside or refrigerate

Heat Chicken broth to a boil, immediately reduce to a simmer.
Place ½ cup raw spinach in each of 4 bowls
Add tortellini, heat until broth returns to a simmer
Add cooked chicken; continue to simmer until hot, probably about 2 minutes
Add salt and pepper to taste
Ladle hot soup, tortellini and chicken into the bowls containing the spinach
Garnish each bowl with grated cheese
Serve with crisp bread or garlic bread

Refrigerate any leftovers and serve with pasta sauce for another meal (minus the broth).
