How can I find information about dinnerware shown on a tv show?

dinnerware sets no mugs

dinnerware sets no mugs image

me

I watched the sitcom "'Til Death" until it's death this year. It was a little crazy at times, but my dh and I stuck it out. Anyway, I have admired the plates and mugs on the set and know that they would be perfect for my home. Does anyone know how I might go about finding that particular set of dishes? Who I would contact? How I would begin the search? I know it may seem trivial, but I feel that I must give it a try!

Answer
Go to the studio and nick them from the props store.

Where can I get reasonable dinnerware sets?

Jessica

I am looking for a square white modern set. The cheapest I have found was at Walmart a set of four including mugs, dinner plate, appetizer plate, and salad bowls. I am looking for at least a set of six for the same price. Any help would be appreciated. I have also checked the following:

-Sears
-JCPenny
-Walmart
-KMart
-Bed Bath and Beyond
-Linens & Things
-Costco
-Macys
-Big Lots
-Pier One Imports
-IKEA
-Target

Is there anything else out there? Thanks!

Forever spring pattern in excellent condition. I have 16 dinner plates, 15 fruit/dessert bowls, 12 coffee cups and saucers with 19 extra saucers. Creamer, sugar bowl with lid, 4 veggie/serving bowls, a serving bowl with handles and lid, a large and medium sized platter. Salt and pepper shakers, gravy boat with attached bottom, and a very cool looking coffee pot with lid.

Answer
A good way to get an idea would be to check out Ebay. The Forever Spring pattern is apparently pretty common, but you could get some decent money for it.

I have lots of Haviland China myself, only the American Havilands. Good Luck.

what do i need to do about patching plaster on my in ground swimming pool?

capt157

my swimming pool is losing part of its plaster in different places, some parts are as big as a large dinner plate. the pool does not leak water, its looks just look gross.

Answer
What you have as a base material is a product called "gunnite" That is a near dry mix of portland cement, hardner, and finely ground strong plastic fibers. That material is then sprayed onto a form and the swimming pool is formed.

So to repair this take a scraper and chisel off every bit that is lose around the holes. The size of a dinner plate will eventually be much larger, about 30 inch dia or so when you get at it with the scraper. So dont be that surprised when this happens.

Next, get some regular Portland cement at Lowes about $8.75 for a 90# bag. Mix that at a ratio of 1:1 with a coarse sand that you can get from any stone quarry. That stuff is cheap, so when you go to the stone quarry take about 5 or 6 of 5 gallon pails and get enough. Probably cost you like $5. for the lot.

DO NOT USE MASONS SAND The strength of repair lies in the larger particules.

Next mix in the hardener. You can buy that at Lowes too about $15 a gallon or so. Also mix in about a one cup of regular latex paint to about 2 gallons of total mix. This latex acts as a "binder" and allows the mix to be troweled onto the wall. Without it troweling will be difficult, if not impossible. Now add water until this mix becomes the consistency of toothpaste.

Next wet down the surface of the damaged spot with water and wait about 15 minutes for it to soak in good. Then take a flat trowel and apply a thin coat of this mix. Rub it good into the surface. Rubbing is important as it impoves the bond.

Trowel it on there until it is say 1/4 inch or about that HIGHER than the pools wall surface. Wait for about 2 hours and let it set up to the point it hardens, but can be scraped with a sharp tool. Then take a sharp piece of steel edge angle iron and scrape that thing dead level. It will shear off just like cutting excess butter from bread.

Dont be alarmed by nicks or gouges that you might make, let it harden overnight and go back next day and made another mix and smooth it out to a very very fine finish as you work that mix on top of the repair.

Paint and no one will ever know this damage was there. This is a permanent repair It will last indefenitely. The cost for the entire pool will be less than $20 im sure assuming you furinish the elbow grease for the job.

Answer

What is a good size for a round table to seat 6 ppl for dinner?

helix

or 8?

Answer
54" diameter round table would sit 6 comfortably.
For 8 people, you may want to go with 60" diameter.
Another option is a round table that has a leaf to extend your table into an oval shape.
You'll also need to take the style of the dining set into consideration as to how many people can sit comfortably. If it's metal or slimmer wood, you can fit more chairs, but if it's heavily carved thick wood, it would take up more space.

My friend sent me everything INSIDE the quotes.

"On a Sears hairdryer -- Do not use while sleeping.
(That's the only time I have to work on my hair.)

On a bag of Fritos -- You could be a winner! No purchase necessary. Details inside.
(the shoplifter special?)

On a bar of Dial soap -- "Directions: Use like regular soap."
(and that would be???....)

On some Swanson frozen dinners -- "Serving suggestion: Defrost."
(but, it's just a suggestion.)

On Tesco's Tiramisu dessert (printed on bottom) -- "Do not turn upside down."
(well...duh, a bit late, huh!)

On Marks &Spencer Bread Pudding -- "Product will be hot after heating."
(and you thought?)

On packaging for a Rowenta iron -- "Do not iron clothes on body."
(but wouldn't this save me time?)

On Boot's Children Cough Medicine -- "Do not drive a car or operate machinery after taking this medication."
(We could do a lot to reduce the rate of construction accidents if we could just get those 5 year-olds with head-colds off those bulldozers.)

On Nytol Sleep Aid -- "Warning: May cause drowsiness."
(I'm taking this because?)

On most brands of Christmas lights -- "For indoor or outdoor use only."
(as opposed to what?)

On a Japanese food processor -- "Not to be used for the other use."
(now, somebody out there, help me on this. I'm a bit curious.)

On Sainsbury's peanuts -- "Warning: contains nuts."
(talk about a news flash)

On an American Airlines packet of nuts -- "Instructions: Open packet, eat nuts."
(Step 3: say what?)

On a child's Superman costume -- "Wearing of this garment does not enable you to fly."
(I don't blame the company. I blame the parents for this one.)

On a Swedish chainsaw -- "Do not attempt to stop chain with your hands or genitals."
(Oh my Gosh..was there a lot of this happening somewhere?) "

I am adding this, Mcdonalds was sewed because the sign that said "Caution: Hot" was not "clear enough" once and someone tryed sewing them, although it was printed in the size of this print - on the very front of the cup. Because they spilled it when they were DRIVING!!!! They set it on the part where the steering wheel is connected and it fell on her lap and she got a third degree burn. They would sew them if it was too cold! That is why now it has "hot" printed all over the coffee cups at McDonalds. People have to make things soo obvious. And the finger thing that happened at Wendys! Where they said that there was a finger in their cake. It was actually a relative's she caught off their hand to put on it, so they would get money. Businesses shouldn't get ripped off for this crap.

lookie here!?!?

Pfaltzgraff Dinnerware vs. Corelle Dinnerware...?

Corelle offers a 3 year warenty against any chips or cracks. However, Pfaltzgraff is known for their good qualiy. I really like ceramic plates and would prefer the pfaltzgraff, but I want them to last and stay in good condition. My current set is a no name ceramic and several have broken and chiped over the years. Would anyone be able to share information on the two products I mentioned?

Answer
I have and use both these brands of dishes. I've had good experiences with both. I love the Corelle for every day use, it's light weight, microwaveable, easy to clean. I've never had one chip; however, if you drop it on the floor and it breaks, it goes into a MILLION pieces. It totally shatters and all the pieces are VERY sharp. But if you aren't clumsy like me, it lasts forever. I have 2 Corelle plates my mom gave me that I grew up with in the 70s. They are still in great shape, not chipped, cracked, or faded.

I also love my Pfaltzgraff dinnerware. It's strong, durable, long-lasting. It's a bit heavy sometimes for me with my bad wrists.
I do have some chipped pieces but they're still usable. I like the fact that my table looks so beautiful when it's set with the Pfaltzgraff, it dresses it up for company or special occasions. Plus you can get so many matching pieces to go with the dinnerware. Candlesticks, all kinds of bowls, towels, etc. You name it! It is a little pricey though. And sometimes the patterns go out of production rather quickly, I think.

edit - I have had most of my Pfaltzgraff since 1985.

Which dinnerware set do you like better?

What's an easy recipe that makes a romantic dinner?

Debby W

I want to make a romantic dinner for my boyfriend and I need some easy recipes that are yummy and ideas for how to make the night romantic. Please help!

Answer
Always think light and inexpensive...the wine is always your main focus in a romantic dinner. Grape based is always the way to go for one the flavor and two it encourages drinking more which we all know speeds the heart up and leads to a wild night making love.
I would suggest something fairly easy
Shopping List
Olive oil if nones at home
Xpress Rice not sure what the brand is at your local store but these come in a variety of flavors. I know of Betty Crocker and Thai Express Chicken Helper..once you reach this part of grocery store you'll see bunch of them look for Mexican or Wild Rice or Jambalaya those are my favorite but the options is all yours to choose pick one based on allergy info or personal taste some of them will contain cheese or beans. I suggest taking an extra box just in case you mess up cooking one.
Next head to the freezer and find preseasoned boneless chicken breasts get about 2 pieces and oh yeah asparagus and thyme.
Dont forget the chocolate mousse cake and the Barry White cd or luther vandross please
Also if you dont have any good china glassware and silverware at home like i do. Gets a pair especially the wine glass.
Head Home
First Place both wine glass empty in the freezer and the wine in the fridge to chill.
Start with the instructions on the box for the rice..usually it will have you start off with a pan of boiling water. Then add rice stir a few and lower heat to its lowest setting and leave for a few mins. Please note on rice use your best judgement call if you open the rice pot too much will ruin it it should take bewteen 10 - 15 mins based on what is said in the instructions if you have a see thru pyrex to cook the rice that'll be great.
Start up another flame a nice saute pan will do great put about 1/4 cup olive oil and cook the asparagus on high heat til crispy brown. You are free to take one out and nibble at it to see if its ready.
Dont forget the rice!!!
Take out cooked asparagus set aside
Get the two pieces of chicken and insert to fry on high heat about 12 mins on each side. Keep rotating chicken until cooked.
Once cooked re insert asparagus and shake the pot cuz we wont be able to flip it like them chefs on tv the seasons off the chicken will blend with the asparagus once blended. Get a knife and scrape the fresh leaves off the thyme and simmer with a cover on low heat this will seal flavor and make you hungry.
Now we wait for mr rice.
The hardest thing about a romantic dinner is timing you dont want it too hot when hes home or too cold. Thats why i suggested the low flames slow cooking that will keep it hot and extend the time til he reaches home. This recipe will invest you about half hour or less..
DONT FORGET TURN OFF THE PHONES.
Have the wine glass ready LUTHER OR BARRY should be sounding out in the house at a low enough volume not to disturb but enhance the mood and the wine preferably wrapped in a new linen on the table when hes in the drive way. Have the china plates by the stove and ask him to call about 5 mins away from the house. Candles should already be lit andsilverware wrapped you should already be in something comfortable and smelling good. Have his robe hanging by the door amd as soon as he steps in strip him of his clothes and put his robe on. And lead him to the table i guarantee he will take over...and have the chocalate mousse sliced and already in the bedroom after the meal say "its time for dessert and pull him to the bedroom feed him tease him and you can take it from there.
