Supper
Supper is the name for the evening meal in some dialects of English - ordinarily the last meal of the day, usually the meal that comes after dinner. A similar meal referred to in parts of the UK is 'Hubsies' which is also eaten late in the evening; unlike supper, however, it is usually eaten after midnight, when the eater would usually be in bed. People working overnight would refer to the main meal of their shift as their Hubsies. Another example would be if someone were to consume food during the night, after being out for the evening for example.

The term is derived from the French souper, which is still used for this meal in Canadian French and sometimes in Belgian French. It is related to soup. Other meanings for supper
Supper is always an evening meal, but must be noted that supper is not a common meal in many cultures.

I apologize for cursing but, I'm annoyed by America's art.

Lady Gaga is a talented musician who decides to sell out. But before she did, she made amazing music. Why the Hell did she become famous AFTER she clearly sold out to her music? When she started making generic pop?

Katy Perry even stated herself "I sold my soul to the devil." She wanted to be the "Amy Grant" of music. She doesn't like her job, but it got her where she is now. She probably KNOWS her music is shitty and people SUPPORT it?

Jersey Shore is the worst piece of shit I've ever seen in the history of television. Yet, Snooky gets brought into College and paid a ridiculous amount to talk about her horrendous show and gets a BEST SELLER for the New York Times. What happened to standards? What happened to VALUES?

Soulja Boy is a disgrace to rap. He did NOTHING interesting or new to music, yet he gets millions of dollars for being terrible at music. Now the kid lives his life uneducated and hating on things that shouldn't be hated on. He actually disrespects people and doesn't plan on an education, while people in poor cities suffer and struggle by doing HARD WORK. Even good people, but THIS is what YOU DO for our SOCIETY?

Even MOVIES have fallen. Why the HELL are there movies that just copies it's typical standards. Repeating the last movie or doing some crappy generic comedy. I have to look hard for a good movie nowadays. And if I do, it sure as Hell ain't from this country that it was made.

This shit is so industrialized and unpersonal and people support that bullcrap? They don't even try, they just try for the glitter and fame, but forget the love and compassion put into music. I don't care WHAT genre you do, I respect rap, electro, rock, classical, jazz, raggae, among MANY genres. But when there's no emotion set in motion, it's just garbage. My favorite genre of music is probably Jazz but I still like listening to other shit, including Rap. Rap was a respectable genre, they talked about shit that goes on through their lives. They were outspoken and TRUE. They told their problems.

Now I turn on the radio and it's all about partying, using generic chord patterns, and drinking. Are people braindead? Even food has become a disgrace to art. I have to look long and hard, harder than movies, to find a good mom and pop restaurant. Instead, I get T.G.I.Fridays and a crappier version of what Olive Garden once was.

In short, corporatization and laziness did all this.
They appeal to the lowest (cheapest) common denominator, and since Americans as a group fear change (no matter WHAT they say), so industries cater to the same ol' sh!t as far as the mainstream goes.

Laziness comes into play on your (consumer's) end. As far as media goes, it's not that hard to get quality, independent (or, at least non-mainstream) entertainment if you're willing to invest the time and effort. You are even free to seek out other countries. For example, An hour perusing the vast BBC stations available on demand and free online is sure to yield something new or interesting. I love Radio Cymru and the other non-English stations they have for real variety and genuine aesthetic stimulation.

Movies - seek the national products of Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand, Nigeria, and Australia. They all have English language media with a huge array of styles. Or better yet, check out local film festivals that are NOT aimed at megaplex goons; a cheaper option is to frequent indie film blogs for references.

Food - what's more American than teaching yourself how to create something awesome? Cook at home or do themed potlucks with friends. Given what food prices are now and how much more they're going to increase after this year's corn failure/drought, it's brilliant to dedicate yourself towards that style of experience. You can even make your own delicious beer or wine if you're into that sort of thing. If that's not an option, seek out local ethnic or religious gatherings/festivals for free or cheap goodies. Sikh temples host langars (free, vegetarian-Punjabi community dinners), for example. Buddhist temples have similar events. If you live near a university, there is nearly always some sort of ethnic/national/religious student group hosting an event like that for free or on the cheap.

I encourage you to VALUE personal satisfaction and diligence in what you consume. Go very local or very international, not the national "norm" - you won't regret it.
