murder mystery dinner party?

running

I want to host a murder mystery dinner party for 8 to 10 people. Any suggestions on which are the best kits and/ or themes?

Answer
The BEST kit is the
How To Host A Murder series
They have a lot of choices depending on what style you want to do, great suggestions, menus and everything you need in the kit.
I've got three of them and they are always a huge hit!
They sell them in the toy section on Amazon. com, and here are a couple of other sites where you can read summaries of each game.
One tip though: the first time you do one, make sure you DON'T include yourself as one of the characters. It's better if you run the game and manage the food, etc. your first time. We did the one that is set in an English Manor, so I dressed up as a French Maid and my date came as the butler to help me.
The other tip I have to be sure you stress to your guests that if they say they will come that they don't flake out on you. IT WON'T WORK with less than 8 people (also a good reason not to assign yourself a character at first, as you may have to fill in for someone who doesn't show up!)!
You will have a great time! Good luck!
P.S. you get GREAT pictures if you encourage everyone to dress up like the part you assign them!

Suggestions for dinner?

Just me.

No pork or shellfish suggestions because my family won't eat it. No spaghetti either.

Thank you.

Answer
Baked Chicken #1

Marinate your chicken in Italian dressing for about 1 hour then roll in Italian style bread crumbs that have Parmesan and Romano cheeses mixed in - bake at 375 degrees F for 45 minutes to 1 hour depending upon how thick/big they are. Serve with roasted potatoes, a veggie or salad.

Baked Chicken #2

1 box of stuffing mix like Stove Top
4-6 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1 can condensed Cream of Mushroom or Cream of Chicken soup - I like Campbell's but any brand will work
1/2 soup can of milk
1/4 cup bread crumbs - I like Italian style
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. In a small bowl, mix the can of soup and milk; set aside. Make stuffing mix according to package directions and spread into a greased 13x9 in baking pan. Place chicken pieces over the stuffing. Cover with the soup mixture. Sprinkle the shredded cheese and bread crumbs over the top of the chicken and bake for 45 minutes to one hour depending upon how thick you chicken pieces are. Serve with a green salad.

Prepared macaroni and cheese can be substituted for the stuffing.

Stove Top BBQ'd Chicken

Melt a little butter in a big heavy frying pan, add some slice onion and cook until tender. Put you pork chops in the frying pan and brown on both sides. Cover with your favorite BBQ sauce, cover the pan and simmer until the chops are tender. Serve with rice, potato salad or mashed potatoes and a veggie.
**************************************...

Classic Potato Salad

Ingredients
2 pounds potatoes (6 medium) - Use red or Yukon Gold potatoes
1/4 teaspoon salt
1-1/4 cups Miracle Whip or mayonnaise - I prefer Miracle Whip, it gives the potato salad a bit more of a zing
1 tablespoon yellow mustard
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 cup thinly sliced celery (2 stalks)
1/3 cup chopped onion (1 small)
6 Hard-Cooked Eggs, coarsely chopped

Directions
In a medium saucepan place potatoes, the 1/4 teaspoon salt, and enough water to cover. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer, covered, for 20 to 25 minutes or until just tender. Drain well; cool slightly. Cube the potatoes.

Meanwhile, for dressing, in a large bowl combine Miracle Whip, mustard, the 1/2 teaspoon salt, and the pepper.

Stir in the celery and onion. Add the potatoes and eggs. Toss lightly to coat. Cover and chill for 6 to 24 hours.
**************************************...

Macaroni and Cheese - add a pound diced ham, a pound of browned hamburger or a package of sliced hot dogs and a package of frozen mixed veggies, peas or corn to the mac and cheese before pouring it into the baking dish to make a hearty meal.

Ingredients
8 ounces dried elbow macaroni (2 cups)
1/2 cup chopped onion (1 medium)
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon dry mustard - I like Coleman's English
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
2-1/2 cups milk
1-1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (6 ounces)
1-1/2 cups shredded American cheese (6 ounces) - I like to use Veleeta

Directions
Cook macaroni according to package directions. Drain; set aside.

Meanwhile, for cheese sauce, in a medium saucepan cook onion in hot butter until tender but not brown. Stir in flour, dry mustard and pepper. Add milk all at once. Cook and stir over medium heat until slightly thickened and bubbly. Add cheeses, stirring until melted. Stir in cooked macaroni. Transfer mixture to a 2-quart casserole.

Bake, uncovered, in a 350 degree F oven for 25 to 30 minutes or until bubbly and heated through. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving. Makes 4 servings.

Saucepan Macaroni and Cheese: Prepare as above, except reduce milk to 2 cups. After draining macaroni, immediately return macaroni to the saucepan. Pour cheese sauce over macaroni; stir to coat macaroni with sauce. Cook over low heat for 2 to 3 minutes or until heated through, stirring frequently. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
**********************************************************************

Meatloaf - served with mashed potatoes and whole green beans or steamed baby carrots.

Meatloaf
3 pounds ground beef
3 large eggs
1/2 to 3/4 cup Italian style bread crumbs
1 packet Lipton's Onion or Beefy Onion Soup Mix
1 can sliced mushrooms - drained
1/2 cup sliced black olives
2 tablespoons BBQ sauce
1 tablespoon A-1 sauce
1/2 cup salsa
1/2 cup shredded cheese - I use a combination of Cheddar, Italian Blend and Pepper-Jack cheeses or whatever I have on hand

Mix all ingredients, form into a loaf in a loaf pan, bake at 350 degrees F for 1 1/2 hours.

Can you think of a good topic for my english paper?

conundrum

I'm not asking you to write it for me, I just need a topic. It has to be an essay on any topic we choose(literally anything), but it has to be in one of the 5 following styles.
1)Process analysis- explain a process, like how to do something or make something, like a series of events or instructions maybe.
2)Compare and contrast- essay that links 2 or more items in some way in order to make a claim.
3)Division and classification- an essay that divides and categorizes things to make a claim, like ranking the top three bands or the best vacation spots or something.
4)Definition- discusses the key characteristics that make something what it is, sets boundaries as to what it is not.
5)Cause and effect- causes and effects of something.
The paper has to be five pages long, so I need something that I'll be able to write five pages about. Any ideas? Seriously, I'll take any ideas you have. I have writer's block right now.

Answer
Some of my topic ideas that would be great, and easy to write:-

1) Process Analysis
Preparing for the Perfect Christmas-That takes most people decades...so five pages won't be hard i don't think...if you run out, include the Christmas eve dinner preparations...that alone is enough...lol

2) Compare and Contrast
The War on Terror, Do we choose the Republicans or Democrats to lead us through it?- You could write a Thesis on this topic alone....

3) Division and classification-
Whats the best way to going about planing a Vacation? Websites (such as Travelocity, Expedia, etc), Travel Agent, Or by your self(call airlines, hotels, excursion companies themselves to book reservations etc.)This is simple to re-search what each involves...and there is a lot of info on the net about each. I would say the websites are the easiest, but you decide.

4) Division and classification
What is a Democracy?-a lot of info, you would probably get all the info you need from all the multitudes of info on the web.

5) Cause and effect
Drunk Driving, And how it effects our society-This is a hard hitting topic that has many causes and effects that you can go into specific details on how it affects people mentally, physically, and what drives people to drink etc. There is NO shortage of causes and effects for this behavior.

I've written quite a few ideas that you could write 100 pages on... so hope one catches your fancy...

What is the difference between Port of Spain and Kingston?

Crazy Eagl

Has anyone lived in both? If so, what is the difference? Which one is bigger? More cosmopolitan? More things to do?

Thanks!

Answer
Traffic entering into Kingston from the west takes people from areas like Montego bay and other places across Jamaica, once on Mandela Rd/high w 2000 going in town/[Capitol] you'll be greeted by the aswome view of the Blue Mountains which apppears massive,& blue.
And many high rise buildings in the financial center and down town.
Both cities are capitols for the respective countries.

Traffic entering Port of Spain is from the east, as there are over 600,000 populous persons who commute by the Roosevelt high way, from places like Arima.
http://www.visittnt.com/General/Maps/trinidad-towns.html
With a new sky scrapper being builded to house a commercial fincial center on the water front of PoS,its well on its way to be develop city & country by its set date of 2020,with the old Eric williams twin towers/plaza,already dominating the area.

Kingston is Bigger in terms of Population,500,000 plus when Incorporated with Port more another 300,000 plus its 800,000. most of the population comprises of African descendants.
But you will find many other racies disburse through Kingston.

Port of Spain Trinidad has a population 49,000,40 indian 40 Afro.Multiracial society.
Kingston has the financial district were all head quarters are for national and international businesses on whole, import oriented, economy stagnant,Jamaica import more than US 400 million worth of goods and services from the eastern Caribbean, however life styles may not reflect that in more are less visible or affluent places.
Port of Spain same thing lots of big operations are base there industrially. export oriented, booming economy, due to wind fall from petroleum.
Port of Spain is the most industrious area in the English speaking Caribbean, second only to Puerto rico.
Kingston gives you night life beyond that of Port of Spain with the list of places like the Acropolis a gaming lounge and many other high end business like restaurant Bar movie theaters and etc; all present in short driving distances.
Of course Port of Spain has the Biggest Carnival and the best.
Kingston also has its own which is also famous there.
Lots of hotels that are more customer friendly can be found in Kingston- Jamaica,Due to the fact, tourism is the life blood of the country.

Port of Spain also has good hotels but are rather smaller in size, but still good service.
This site give you a few things that can be done while there,
http://www.caribbeanportreviews.com/Trinidad.htm#Shopping
http://www.tripadvisor.com/Tourism-g147389-Port_of_Spain_Trinidad_Trinidad_and_Tobago-Vacations.html
Trinidads Port of Spain is also the main shipping hub of the southern Carib-region,because the port is in the Gulf of paria on the north west coast were many indutrial sites are located there are no notable beaches there.

Jamaica is also a main hub for large container Ships with expansion occuring, and boast the 7 natural largest harbour in the world.
looking for beaches, are little afar however with some reservations you can jet/ferry out to lime cay beach or drive over to Hellshire, which offer good beaches.

Kingston can give just about anything from Calypso even though they don't own it to R&B, Reggaeton and even world reknown Reggae authentically the best, which they do own.
Jamaica is indeed the cultural super power in the region and bursting with micro environmental natural beauty.
By the way you can climb Jamaica highest peak [2256 m/7402 ft] in the english speaking Caribbean in a day which is only 10 miles out of Kingston, and be back in the city for Dinner.
The Northern range in Trinidad is also beauti ful however the variety of plants and birds differ alot more in the Blue and John crow Mountains,so too climate.

Design a Room to be used in a different way than normal?

dinner set english style
on Home Decor: French Country / Provincial Dining Sets
dinner set english style image

k_shepherd

In my new house the entry room is a Large room that typically people use as a formal sitting area and a second dining area. I DON'T want to. I want ideas on what else I could do to the space. A play room? Some help please!

Answer
When walking into a home, I would hesitate to use the entry way, or the first visible room, as a playroom. Play rooms are seldom tidy because, well, kids will be kids and playing is their job. I, personally would not want to walk into my home and see or have guests walk into a play area. So, if you can set up the children's play things elsewhere, that would be ideal.

Some other ideas would be:

A Cocktail Lounge: Set up a good size fully stocked wet bar with glass shelving to display glass stemware, pitchers, wine and liquor. Collect vintage bar items for display and use them, too.
Have a couple areas of group seating in cushy chairs and love seats.
You could decorate it like an upscale hotel lounge or perhaps some tropical plantation decor with wicker or maybe an English Pub setting with leather seating.

A Hunting Room: Decorate with prints of hunting scenes with hound dogs. No hunters in the house? A taxidermy always has unclaimed or abandoned orders that are taking up space in the shop. Just ask what he may have that he needs to get rid of and you will instantly have some authentic "gaming" decor. In this room you can set up quaint library and seating. Framed prints of old fashioned fishing rods, guns, game and foul. Look at old English decorating for ideas.

A Home Theater: Get several love seats and set up a place to watch movies after installing a Home Theater System. Oh, don't forget the popcorn machine.

A Gaming Room: Have a table and chairs set up for board games and card games. Install built in shelving with doors to store games in. Have a wet bar for refreshments and snacks. Have a chess or a checkerboard table set up, ready to play. Have friends over for game night and play poker, Pictionary, Tabu or other fun games. Collect old game boards for wall art.

I would have a drop leaf table set up in any case. This way you can escape to have a quiet cup of coffee and a muffin or a hot bowl of soup and even set it up for a change of pace for dinner for two. While not having a bonafide dining area set up, it is there if you want a change.

You can still set up a living room of sorts but not your typical formal living room that nobody uses. I hope one of my ideas inspires you to decorate a style that suits your taste.

THis year we are having a range of foods - I m looking for a pasta salad recipe, a greek salad recipe thanks.?

Answer
Greek Salad
adapted from my own recipe, by mistake

1 large head Romaine Lettuce
1/2 half red onion, sliced
1 English Cucumber, sliced
1 cup Kalamata olives
1 cup Greek Feta, crumbled

Dressing:
1/2 cup olive oil
3 tbsp red wine vinegar
1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
1 tsp dried oregano
1/2 tsp salt
freshly ground pepper

1. Place lettuce in a large bowl.

2. Mix dressing ingredients in a bottle and give it a good shake.

3. Toss lettuce with about 1/2 the dressing.

4. Place remaining salad ingredients on top of lettuce, and drizzle with some more dressing.

http://janetishungry.blogspot.com/2007/08/greek-salad.html

and this is my adaptation of a kraft based recipe
Easy Creamy Pasta Salad

Total Time: 3 hr 30 min
Makes: 20 side dish servings, or 8 or so, main dish servings

* 1 (16 ounce) package fusilli pasta,Or substitute Tri-Color Rotini
* 1 cup frozen petite peas, thawed
* 1Cup Frozen Baby Carrots , thawed
*1 2ounce can sliced black olives, rinsed
* 1 medium Cucumber
* 1 cup Genoa salami, can also use Hard Salami sliced in Pizza-Like wedges
* 3/4 cup chopped red onion
* 3/4 cup diced celery
* 1 (.7 ounce) package dry Italian-style salad dressing mix
* 1 cup Kraft real Mayonaise mayonnaise
* 1 cup sour cream
* 2 tablespoons milk

Directions
1. In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook pasta until al dente, rinse under cold water and drain.
2. In a medium bowl combine mayonnaise, sour cream, milk and Italian dressing mix. Whisk together until smooth, set aside.
3. In a large salad bowl combine cooked and cooled pasta, peas, olives, salami, green onions, celery and parsley. Mix in dressing last, reserving 1/2 cup. Let sit over night in fridge. Stir before serving. Add extra dressing if pasta appears dry.

This is wonderful as a side dish or main course for hot summer evenings. Even my kids who don't care for "salad dinners" love this. Even better the next day.
Try it and you will love it!

You can really add any vegggies you like. I used broccoli alot in this
