What are some offline ways of generating Sales leads?

titu

Generating Sales Leads

Generating sales leads is the process of making contact with and collecting information from prospective clients. In larger companies, generating sales leads falls to the marketing department, since they're responsible for creating all advertising and outreach materials. However, in smaller organizations, it's common for salesmen to have to do their own sales lead generation.

There are several proven techniques for generating sales leads:

Networking
Advertising (TV/print/Web)
Telemarketing and teleprospecting
Direct mail, fax or e-mail marketing campaigns
Web sites and search engine optimization
Buying a sales lead list

Generating sales leads traditionally begins with networking. This is as simple as contacting your friends, family, former coworkers and existing clients and asking if they know anyone who may be interested in your product or service [source: startupnation]. These referrals are also called sales tips.

Besides networking, trade shows are excellent opportunities for business-to-business (B2B) networking. By setting up a table at a trade show, you can collect contact information from dozens of potential buyers and business partners [source: startupnation].

Web advertising is fast becoming the most powerful way to generate sales leads. According to Nielsen/NetRatings, in the week of September 24-30, 2007, Web surfers clicked on over 53 billion online ads selling everything from financial services to cars to travel [source: Nielsen NetRatings]. These ads often lead to short surveys or contact forms that can be accessed in real-time by sales representatives. More on real-time and opt-in sales leads later.

Telemarketing and teleprospecting are two similar but distinct methods of generating sales leads. Companies contract the services of a telemarketing firm that employs operators who read from a prepared script. Operators sell a product or service directly to the public over the phone. Telemarketing, unfortunately, has a terrible reputation for being a nuisance (calling during dinner hours, offering products that have nothing to do with the potential client, et cetera) and has led to the creation of the National Do Not Call Registry.

Teleprospecting, on the other hand, is a B2B sales technique that employs trained operators -- either in-house or from a third-party teleprospecting company -- to contact targeted business prospects [source: intouch]. In teleprospecting, the callers don't talk from a script. Instead, they familiarize themselves enough with the product or service to be able to gauge the client's interest. If a client wants to know more, the teleprospector refers the client to a salesman.

The quickest way to assemble hundreds or thousands of sales leads is to buy a sales lead list. There are dozens of direct marketing companies who collect and sell specialty lists for certain business and consumer sectors. The advantage of these lists is that a salesman can get instant access to thousands of names and numbers for a few hundred dollars. The disadvantage is that all these names are unqualified leads, meaning they haven't been analyzed individually to see whether or not they're a good match for the salesman's specific product or service [source: MindTools]. We'll talk more about specialty lists later in the article.

Now let's talk about tracking sales leads and the technology that makes it easier.

Answer
Generating a steady flow of sales leads should be the goal of any business.
But it is one area that many businesses have difficulty, mostly because they donât have the marketing system in place to generate those leads. There are some methods present by which a business sales lead can be increased such as
1. Leverage your friends and family
2. Join a networking group.
3. Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
4. Advertising.
5. Improve your retail display.
6. Affiliate marketing.
7. Advertise on mobile apps

Our school is having a fundraising dinner/dance/auction and we need a Zoo related theme. Any good ideas?

Erin

The event is formal/semiformal and generally brings in over $100,000, so we would like a Zoo related theme that isnt too childish

Answer
Hey there!

I've been heavily involved with nonprofit fund raising for years....so here are some ideas I have that could be relatively low in cost for your cause...

1) Consider a mail campaign - depending on how many mailing addresses you have, you never know how many people might respond to your cause and just write you a check! This works amazingly well for several organizations that are short on time AND resources.

2) Consider running an online auction - this is an AWESOME way to get to the people whose mailing addresses you don't have (ie you've got their EMAILS)...your email base can feel like they're using their expendable income on great stuff AND its going to their community at the same time!
I've included a link of one of the online auction companies that I've worked with...cMarket. They also have another website, BiddingforGood.com, that opens your auction up to all their members so that people who you don't even know can donate to your cause and bid on your items!

3) Instead of having a garage sale at your home, try having a "garage" sale on eBay! Think of it as a virtual way to get rid of some stuff AND make a little more money...(make sure you include the cost of shipping those items online or else you'll end up losing money!).

4) Have a fundraising event - give people in your community something to look forward to, and host a gala....you can sell tickets, have an auction, raffle prizes, etc that will give your community something to look forward to AND a perfect opportunity to donate to something they care about.

5) One last tid bit - consider selling sponsorships for your event...this can help off set some of your cost INCREDIBLY. You'd be surprised how many local businesses want to be a part of your cause-minded event! You can ask for anywhere around $500 per sponsor, and if you put your auction online, you can ask for even more than that because they'll be getting just that much more exposure through your website and event emails!

Best of luck with all of this! :)

Fun and Rewarding Jobs for Women

The Beachcomber Cafe in Trinidad, California, is wholly owned by women.
Women now have many lucrative fields open to them that their grandmothers could only dream about. "From a condition of almost pauperism they were placed above want. They could earn money and spend it as they pleased." This describes the experience of women in the Lowell textile mills in Massachusetts in the 1800s. Two centuries later, women are starting their own businesses and working for themselves. In some fields they can command a six-figure annual income.

Teamwork

Alice Vasterling, co-owner, serves her customers.
The Beachcomber Cafe in Trinidad, California, is an example of a business totally owned by women. Alice Vasterling, Jackie Keegan and Melissa Zarp have joined forces making their own soups, sandwiches, dinners, gourmet coffees and delicious baked goods. Pooling their resources and talent, these three women have created a niche and network of local farmers, workers and customers. Their passion and teamwork are reflected in tasty food and a fun atmosphere.

We Can Do It

Fun freelancing
In 2008, 60 percent of the women living in the United States sought or occupied jobs, accounting for 46.5 percent of the total labor force, but they were earning only 80 percent what a men did for the same task and skill level, according to the Department of Labors Women's Bureau. High-paying jobs that require strong math and science skills are typically avoided by women and minorities.

High-Tech Freedom

Freedom from organized labor
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment projections for 2006-2016 indicate an increased demand for computer-related occupations as all modern businesses employ more complex technology. Although still dominated by men, computer technology is attractive to women because it is not physically strenuous, you can often work online from home, and it is based on communication, an area where women excel.

Income and Lifestyle

Girls Just Want To Have Funds!
Fun and rewarding work translates to income and lifestyle. You must decide how you wish to live as your job will influence the quality of your days. Do you work well on your own or would you be happier working with a large company? Do you want to work full time, part time or set your own schedule?

Here is a list of top-paying careers for women based on annual income: doctor, $135,725; pharmacist, $86,000; information technology and computer-related fields, $70,492; law, $69,696; sales engineering, $62,427; and financial services and investment counselor, $53,890.

Currently, the most popular career choice for women in the U.S. is a pharmacist. Women account for half the pharmacists working in the U.S. today, earning 85 percent of what their male counterparts do. Female doctors command a higher annual income but still only make half the salary that a male doctor does.

To determine your ideal job, you must weigh the education required, potential income and lifestyle to decide what type of career you would find ultimately fun and rewarding.

What can I do in Vegas with not a whole lot of money?

Jeff

I'm going to Vegas in about a month and don't have a whole lot of money. I have the tickets and lodging done and paid for and a little (i mean little) bit saved for gambling and was wondering what the best things to do to see Vegas for a little cheaper than what it seems. I've looked at prices and everything is a lot. I'm taking my girlfriend for graduation from college and want her to have a good experience while there. Thanks for any help.

Answer
Las Vegas is one of those places where you can spend a little money or a lot and either way still have a good time! I've been there broke and with money to burn. So here are my person tips~

Free Entertainment~

Bellagio fountains
Mirage volcano
Treasure island pirate show
Fremont street downtown (at night)
Welcome to Las Vegas Sign
Big Elvis ~ Bill's gamblin hall
Show in the Sky~ Rio
Chocolate tour at Ethel M's
Crazy girls statue~ front of Riviera
Atlantis show and aquarium~ Ceasar's palace
Largest gold nugget~ Golden nugget hotel
Lion habitat~ MGM Grand
M&M's World~ next to MGM
Swim at the hotel's pool
Walk around the canals at the Venetian

Cheap eats~

Go downtown is my best advice
Bay city diner~ Golden gate
Magnolia's Veranda~ Four queens
Mermaid's~ $1 fried twinkie's or fried oreo's (downtown)
Bill's~ 99cent margarita's
Luxor, Excalibur, Riviera, Bally's, Slots of fun all have fast food in food court type set ups. Think Mcdonald's, Saborra, KFC, Pizza Hut, A&W rootbeer, Subway

In & Out Burger is awesome and cheap. There is one between New York New York and The Orleans.

Off strip buffets are a great value, I would suggest Orleans(free shuttle offered from Bill's gamblin hall) or Texas Station. $10 or less if you go during the week before dinner hours. Also look up Ebay for coupons. People sell them cheap and there are always good ones for sale!

Shows

If you have money for a show wait until you get there and check at Tics for tonite located at the bottom of the coke a cola bottle for same day tickets at half price, some as cheap as $13! Get there when it opens for best selection, 10am.

Gamble cheap

Go downtown for low limits on tables, Circus circus always has a $3 blackjack table, or you can find penny slots at the nicest hotels (just avoid the max credit button).

Entertainment worth the money!

Maddume Tussaud's wax museum (fun picture oppurtunities) Buy ticktes online and receive 10% off or coupons are everywhere on ebay for this!

Stratosphere tower or Eiffel Tower at night, there are coupons for these everywhere. Buy one get one usually.

You'll have fun because it's not about how much you spend or even where you are, but it's about who you are with!!!!!

Where to find tea party set for bday party?

dinner set sale online image

CAN'T WAIT

I am looking for mainly a bunch of tea cups and saucers. I keep finding online sets for four people for around $30. I'm throwing a tea party for my daughter's 5th bday so I'll need around 11-13 tea cups and not looking to spend so much. Please help! :)
I will be looking at thrift stores. I already bought gloves and hats from target for $1 each. They had a bunch out for easter.

Answer
Hi,

I just answered your other question and then saw this one, So I will just c+p my answer here. Hope your daughter enjoys her birthday! While you are checking out the thrift shops and yard sales... keep your eye out for fancy hats, gloves and such. The girls will love digging through a box of fun stuff to add too their 'elegance'!

"I also gave my daughter a tea party for her 5th birthday!

Because I didn't want to spend gobs of money on special tea sets, and I didn't want to worry about my things getting broken, I bought a couple sets of china at some local thrift stores. I got one set that had a full service for 8 including dinner plates and serving bowls and platters for under $20. I also bought several other cup and saucer sets that only had 2 or 3 in the sets. Teapots abound also in these types of second hand stores, flee markets and yard sales.

I then didn't care if something was dropped, mixing and matching the china was fun and the girls felt extra, extra special using real china!

If you don't want to buy the china, you might consider hostessing a 'bring your favorite tea cup' party."

What is the best online store to buy can cat food in bulk at a good price?

Cloudy

I am looking to buy a case at a time of mid grade cat food (not store brand). Suggestions? Free shipping would be nice-lol!

Answer
I go to www.petfooddirect.com. I buy Innova or Evo no grain for my cats, dry food and the innova canned. They sometimes have a discount on shipping or sales on foods. I have mine set up on automatic delivery every 7 weeks. Its convenient for me because the nearest retailer of that high quality food is at LEAST 45 minutes away one way. And in the winter, I don't go over THAT hill, that's just asking for trouble. Unless you like sliding into things over the snow and ice and I don't particularly care for that. Sometimes, I also get my birds natural pelleted diet there too, it's convenient and I know they always have it. I throw in some wild bird food and raw in shell peanuts for the parrot and wild blue jays. Get on their e-mail list and they will e-mail you special sales from time to time..
I buy two kinds of food, 24 cans each and use one a day. I divide the 5 OZ can up between three cats for dinner and throw in some dry food every night. They get dry food in the morning.
