How To Lose Weight?

ILoveYouLe

I keep trying to lose weight and it just aint happening. I starved myself about a year ago and lost a stone in a few weeks would it work again? or does it put more weight on !? :S

Answer
1.Set goals. You'll be better able to make a realistic weight loss plan if you know how much weight you want to lose.

2.Identify your weaknesses. Are you a bread fiend? Do you have dessert after every meal and every snack? Is McDonald's your second home? Find the weakness and throttle it. It does not own you, you are stronger and cooler than to allow some silly little craving to knock you off your path.

3.Throw away anything you know is tempting. Those cinnamon buns with 500 calories each? Gone. The ramen noodles in your cabinet? Gone. The problem is that this is not always feasible. Often times we are not the only ones in our homes and therefore the call of the food must be withstood. In this case, out of sight truly is out of mind. Put unhealthy, unfilling foods in a drawer or in a cabinet that you rarely use. Put them all together to make a particularly unappetizing sight. Don't place them all in a decorative basket out on the counter. Place them in a drawer. A drawer heaping with pastries rarely looks like anything but a drawer of fat.

4.Eat less, but eat more often. If possible, eat 4-5 meals a day. This helps your metabolism and blood sugar to stay level as well. This does require a change in your schedule. Eat less within 6 hours of your bed time. You're less likely to burn the calories closer to your bed time. It's fine to eat a large breakfast and lunch because your body will be working on burning those calories for the whole day. Large dinners are likely to go unburned and converted into fat.

5.Do not skip breakfast. If you don't have time to prepare breakfast, buy healthy breakfast bars or those smoothies on the go. It is important to eat breakfast to jump start your metabolism and give you energy for the day. Otherwise you will probably end up falling back on unhealthy foods during the day. Yogurt is also known to boost your metabolism.

6.Eat healthy snacks when you feel hungry between meal times. Healthy snacks would be things high in fiber, fruits and vegetables. Avoid high sugar and high calorie snacks. This will help you get nutrients as well as help lower your appetite so you won't overeat during meals.

7.Increase your fiber intake. Fiber acts as negative calories. It's also filling and healthy for your digestive system. Make it a part of every meal.

8.Eat slowly and chew more. Take time to enjoy your meals. This will help you to finish at the same time as others, and you'll not be tempted by a second helping. Also, chewing more will ensure you get the most out of all the food and it will be digested faster. The more you chew, the more your appetite will be satiated.

9.Drink more water every day. Stay hydrated. While you don't need 8 cups of water a day to stay hydrated, it'll make sure you're hydrated as well as cut down on your hunger levels and force you to get a little bit more exercise (trips to the sink, water cooler, water fountain, and bathroom). If you're a heavy soda drinker, permit yourself to only one diet soda per day, maximum. Just one extra soda each day can add 15 pounds. Recently, fizzy drinks, even diet ones, have been said to slow down metabolism.

10.Increase physical activity. There are two ways to reduce net caloric intake: 1) reduce the number of calories in your diet and 2) Increase the number of calories that you burn in your daily activities. Both approaches are usually necessary and healthful and both are effective in losing weight. You can pick and choose which exercise you want to do, depending on your fitness level and drive. For example: walking, jogging, using the stair stepper, using cross training machines, swimming, tennis, and basketball. Weight training (and resistance training) can help reshape your body. The more muscle you have the higher your metabolism will be.

11.Find active friends. Find people that will drag you out to do more active things. It doesn't have to be much, but any exercise even walking around the mall is better than none.

12.Don't get discouraged. After one or two weeks of initial weight loss, it is quite common for your metabolism to slow down as it adjusts to the new calorie count. Stay on course and you'll see results. In some cases, the scale will tell you your weight is barely changing, but you may be gaining muscle weight while losing fat weight. Also make sure to weigh yourself first thing in the morning to try to avoid the fluctuations in weight due to water.

13.Take all advice with a grain of salt. Everyone is going to have some tidbit of information for you. What worked for them might not work for you. Take it all in stride and work with what is getting results for you. Trying to do everything everyone says will only cause overload.

14.Eat more protein. If you choose to go this route, do not cut out all carbs. If you do so, as soon as you start eating carbs again you will regain your weight back. Instead of eating stand alone pasta, throw some meatballs or chicken in. Eat some beans, they are high in protein and very healthy for you. Increase the ammount of protein, but not by too much. The more protein you take in, the more water you should drink as well.

15.Eat less calories. The average woman should eat around 2,000 calories a day and the average male 2,500. There's many ways to reduce the calories you intake. Try not to eat frozen dinners, pizza, or from fast food joints. There's also certain drinks, such as Green Tea that are calorie reducers. Lettuce is another calorie reducer, but be careful because dressing tends to have the calories. Low fat/light vinnegette, balsomic vineger, red wine and vineger are pretty healthy dressings, but do not load it on

Answer
hello I used to be a personal trainer, the best way to achieve what you want may be a dramatic change to what your used to, that's because your body is used to your routine. starting with gaining weight, eat a huge dinner, your metabolism slows down when you sleep so more calories will be stored (not burnt), another good tip is to eat breakfast as late as possible, because by eating an early meal it jump starts your metabolism, if you delay the meal you will burn less calories, you must have a high metabolism like myself if you are skinny, so you want to try to slow down the natural burning of calories. another good tip is don't overdo any cardiovascular exercise, 20 minutes every other day should be maximum, (this is to achieve the desired effect). you don't want to get fat so you have to balance your routine but start a program, i will go into that in a minute, The best way to gain mass, is low repetitions, heavy weights, use enough weight that you can't do 7 reps do 6 sets of 6 reps try to be intense (and concentrate, you want to develope a mind muscle connection)another good tip to gaining mass fast is to concentrate on larger muscle groups (chest, back and quads).
the 2 best are bench presses and squats, remember high weight low reps. you will hurt the next day but that's why they say no pain no gain, the only way muscles get bigger is to break them down(pain), then they will grow back bigger(gain).don't get fat either, i recommend 2 weeks heavy weights 1 week lighter weights higher reps, that will keep your body good for the ladies, alway change your routine every month or two so your body doen't get used to it(this will promote faster gains). never work out a muscle group that still hurts from a previous workout. but increasing protein intake with more meat you will speed recovery time and promote quick gains.(Quick = 6 months) It takes time and dedication to change your body. set a goal for 6 months before you expect good results but trust me follow this advice and you will see results. if you have any questions post a comment or email me... i moniter my answers, if you think this is the best answer choose it so others can benifit also... Thanks.............>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> .........................>>>>>>>>>>>>>>.......... ..................>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>............ .........................>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>.................. added after reading gree c's answer.... he/she is incorrect low weight high reps will only burn more calories (it's more like cardio) you want to break muscles down as much as possible in the shortest time so you don't burn calories..... also ofcourse you have to eat more calories then you burn but use my strategies to trick your natural metabolism otherwise your metabolism will naturally adjust to the increased caloric intake. ......one other thing i would like to add is before you start a heavy wieght routine make sure you warm up your body for 2-3 weeks (meaning don't start lifting super heavy weights right from the start 2-3 weeks of warm up should get your body right. .... and remember the only way to get bigger without getting fat is to work muscle..... trust me your bones won't get any wider ;)>>>>>>>>....................>>>>>>>>>>>>>>......................>>>>>>>>>>>>................>>>>>>>>>.........................>>>>>>>>>>>>>>........... .....>>>>>>..... >>>>>> ......... >>>>>>>> Foods with high calories: peanuts, peanut butter, fatty meats, fried fish w/tarter sauce, meal replacment candy bars are also very good, i eat them as snacks, they are usually very dry wash them down with whole milk or 2% or juice, on the unhealthier side.... if you want to get fat would be extra mayo, salad dressing, fried foods, .......... >> >> >>> >>........... ....>>> >>> >>> >>>.... ........ .....>> >>> > >> >>.... .... ..... .... more, smaller meals per day will raise your metabolism, which means you will burn more calories naturally, it is recommended if you are bodybuilding though. reason being is that the average human body can only metabolize 40 grams of protein every 4 hours, so by eating more frequently, one can usually increase a days metabolized protein level from 120 grams to between 160 and 200. back when i was a freak body builder i would wake up 5 hours into my sleep and drink a protein shake with 40 grams of protein, shakes are good in the middle of the night because they are easy on the digestive system. one negative of eating alot before you sleep is that it can promote bad dreams..... but dreams are just an adventure anyway. are you trying to get fatter or are you trying to get bigger/stronger?

Please Help.

Answer
Eat a huge salad at lunch & dinner
I donât care if your lunch is a cheeseburger, French fries, and a pint of ice cream, add to it a big, huge salad and eat that first. Youâll be amazed that you lose weight. The salad can contain anything you like as long as it is only vegetables and they are organic. The salad dressing should be organic olive oil and freshly squeezed lemon juice, or organic vinegar. If you really want to speed the weight loss process use organic apple cider vinegar. Add some organic sea salt, fresh ground pepper, or some garlic for taste.

Add hot peppers

Anything spicy or hot will increase your metabolism and make you burn fat quicker. Imagine for breakfast having some scrambled eggs, some lamb chops, and some rye toast with organic butter. Smother the eggs with some organic hot salsa and you will simply lose weight faster.

Use organic apple cider
This has some magical property which helps eliminate fat cells from the body. Take a couple of teaspoons before each meal and you will be amazed at how your clothes will become bigger in no time.

Fast
This should be number one, but for most people this is the hardest. Going on a proper juice fast for 21 days will completely detoxify your body, flush fat cells, and reset your bodyâs weight set point. It is one of the fastest ways to lose weight, and one of the most effective ways to change the bodyâs set point so that you will not gain the weight back. This should be done under supervision depending upon your medical condition. The best book I know is The Miracle of Juice Fasting.

Take a multi vitamin

Organic vitamins are available, go to your health food store or do a Google search for organic multi vitamins.

Cheat whenever you want

You want ice cream, cookies, cakes, chocolate, French fries, pizza, potato chips? Donât deprive yourself. Itâs better to eat something without guilt than not eat something and feel bad about it.

From best to worst it looks like this: You are offered a piece of chocolate cake; you look at it and decide that youâre full and wouldnât really enjoy it so it does not look that appealing to you. You politely say no thanks and feel great about your choice. You feel no depravation. This is ideal.

Next would be: You are offered the chocolate cake and you decide that you want it even though you are trying to lose weight your desire for the cake is very high. You say yes and eat the cake with happiness and glee. You enjoy and savor every bite. Youâre amazed at how wonderful it tastes. You are happy that you are experiencing these incredible, pleasurable sensations of this delicious cake. This is not ideal, but it is second best.

Next would be: You are offered the chocolate cake and you struggle with the decision. You know you are on a diet, but you canât help but imagine how wonderful this cake would taste. Inside the voice says nothing tastes as good as being thin feels. You struggle some more, you really want the cake, but you also want to stick to your diet. You decide to be strong and even though would love to be eating that cake you say no. This is bad. It is better to eat the cake and enjoy it, than not eat the cake and be stressed out over it.

The interesting statistics prove that eating food without guilt keeps you thin. Not eating food and being stressed about it can make you fat. Eating food and feeling guilty and bad about it makes you obese.

Lastly: You are offered the chocolate cake, and you really want it. But you know youâre on a diet and you struggle with the decision whether to indulge or be strong. You feel weak and become upset with yourself because the desire for the cake becomes overwhelming. You breakdown and eat the cake knowing full well that you shouldnât. You feel guilty and bad about yourself. This is the absolute worst. Remember, if you choose to absolutely enjoy it and be happy. Do not feel guilty or bad about it.

Ideally, if you are going to cheat and want to eat cookies, cakes, ice cream, potato chips, etc., do not buy these products from the supermarket. Go to a health food store and buy the natural organic counter-part. Example: If you like ice cream, you can find all-natural organic ice cream in the health food store. If you want chocolate chip cookies you can find them in the health food store. The advantage is if you read the ingredient list and choose wisely, you can enjoy these delicious treats without all the processing and chemicals that make you fat.

weight loss question! Help me,please!?

Angel

My doctor was talking to me about a weight loss plan. He said I should eat a balanced dinner every night. He suggested 4 oz. meat and 2 cups steamed veggies. I don't like to eat meat every night,so what are some more healthy dinners that will have similar effect? Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Answer
hope this helps

Weight loss tip 1: Decide how much weight you need to lose - Most people start their weight loss journey by claiming to be xyz kilos overweight. This isn't a healthy way to project or aim for weight loss. Calculate your desired weight against your height by using reliable methods like the BMI, and set a healthy weight loss target. This is often half the battle won.

Weight loss tip 2: Time management - This is quite often overlooked. Decide which part of your day will be dedicated to exercise, when in the week you will stock up on groceries, and when you will do the cooking - all within your current work and home life routine. If you don't do this now, your days will be rushed and unplanned, and you won't be able to sustain your weight loss efforts.

Weight loss tip 3: Stock your kitchen - Keep your house well-stocked with fruits, vegetables, healthy meats, grains, cereals, spices, and flavourers. Follow our tricks to healthy cooking, cooking vegetables for the week, and low-fat cooking posts to understand how best you can stock your kitchen with healthy and delicious ingredients. All of this will go into helping the next step - cooking healthy meals at home.

Weight loss tip 4: Eat healthy homecooked meals - Whether it's you who's cooking, a family member, or house help, ensure that every one practises healthy cooking methods, and ingredients. Ask any person who's lost weight the healthy way, and you will always hear about how healthy homecooked meals were a big reason behind it. Use less oil, low salt, fresh produce, and you'll start seeing results in no time.

Weight loss tip 5 : Start a cardio + weights workout - A healthy weight loss programme is incomplete without a good exercise routine, and weight training mixed with cardio is the best way to lose weight. Of course, variations and forms exist, but any workout that stresses on muscle tone and increased heart rate will always help you lose weight and keep it off. You can either start a home workout today, or rely on gyms for fitness training.

Weight loss tip 6: Alter your snacking habits . Set those French fries aside, skip that aerated drink, and ban those unhealthy deep fried samosas. Explore the healthy snack world and you will find several appetisers, party snacks, movie snacks and meal accompaniments that'll satisfy every craving of yours.

Weight loss tip 7: Have at least one active hobby - It isn't sufficient to rely on just 30 to 60 minutes of physical activity per day. Moving from bed to office chair, and back to bed, isn't a healthy way to live. Buy a motion sensor gaming console that lets you enjoy social games with friends and family, plan weekend trips, clean your house once a week, dance, play sports, the list is endless. Get out of the coffee shop and dining table rut, and you'll have fun along with the healthy weight loss

Weight loss tip 9: Drink plenty of water - You've known that your body relies heavily on water for all important bodily functions, and yet you skimp on drinking adequate quantities of water every day. Well, it's time to stop that. Check out some exciting ways to make water interesting and you'll be packing it away in no time. Do not forget to carry a water bottle to your workout, and take a few sips after every 2-3 minutes of exercise.

Weight loss tip 10: Plan healthy vacations - Why go all the way with healthy weight loss, when one tiny vacation will just come along and topple it all? Healthy vacations aren't impossible. Take a look at how you can eat smart on a holiday, and then at bodyweight workouts that you can carry with you wherever you go, to understand how to holiday right. Above all, remember that these are lifelong habits that'll help you stay fit forever and not short term weight loss quickfixes

good luck.

Can I start exercising less after I have lost a bunch of weight and still maintain my weight?

Ive lost about 35 pounds. At the minute i am 145. I am a 16 year old male 5'10 in height. Ive been losing weight for about the past 6-7 months and ive tried to run everyday. I was wondering if it is possible after losing 35 pounds and exercising for 6-7 months that i am able to run a little less ( maybe 5-6 times a week) and still lose weight or just atleast maintain it.

Answer
As long as you remain <9 carbs per hour, you will maintain insulin control, and shouldn't gain weight no matter the amount of calories.

You can lose more body fat eating protein and fat (don't eat protein alone) than not eating AT ALL. To lose weight fast eat all you want but nothing but meat, eggs, healthy oils, mayo, butter and half an avocado a day (you'll need added potassium). Keep the calories high and the fat percentage high, at least 65% of calories. Adding in green vegetables & some cheese will continue weight loss but at a slower pace.

The first week is just water weight but fat is lost thereafter if you keep your calories high enough. Otherwise your body will strip it's own lean tissue for nutrition and although that may look great on a scale it will make it MUCH easier for you to accumulate fat in the future (since you don't have all that pesky lean tissue burning up calories). Your body won't release fat stores if you lower calories below what it needs. It will slow your metabolism to compensate and store every spare ounce as fat. If you continue lowering your calories, it will continue lowering that set point, til you can survive off nothing and store fat on anything. The body will only release it's fat stores if it knows there is plenty of food.

Eating carbs while trying to lose body fat is terribly inefficient. When in glycolysis (burning glucose as fuel) you have to lower your calories (which slows your metabolism) and exercise heavily to deplete your glycogen stores before burning body fat.

The core of the Atkins program is converting your body from glycolysis (burning glucose as fuel) to ketosis (burning fat as fuel). You need to keep your fat levels at >65% of your calories, if you don't your body will still remain in glycolysis by converting 58% of excess protein into glucose (via gluconeogenesis).

It takes minimum of 3 days to convert your body to ketosis, (but only one bite to convert back to glycolysis) you will probably feel sluggish the first week but most people feel better than ever thereafter.

Simple carbohydrates (sugar, flour, bread, cereal, pasta, potatoes, rice) triggers insulin which can store the calories you eat into fat. The more protein you eat the more the fat burning hormone glucagon is released. The more carbohydrate you eat the more the fat storage hormone insulin is released.

Simple carbs are addictive and can be disastrous to our health. The best way to break the addiction is NO carbs for 3 days. Make a huge batch of deviled eggs and eat one every time you want "something" have huge omelets for breakfast, with bacon, a lil onion, peppers, mushrooms & cheese. Pork chops for lunch. Get pork rinds and eat them with tuna salad. Steak for dinner. Make a huge sugar free cheese cake for dessert. Eat so much you won't feel deprived of anything. By the fourth day, your addiction will be gone and you can start making healthy choices.

High insulin levels promote inflammation, weight gain, hunger and unbalance other hormones. Controlling your insulin level will balance out other hormones & allow human growth hormone (HGH) to be produced naturally so you will gain lean muscle even without exercise. Any exercise will greatly increase your muscle mass with high HGH levels.

Ground flax seed (2 Tbsp) 1/4 cup of water, cinnamon, artificial sweetener, mix in a raw egg - let sit 10 min to absorb liquid, put some cream cheese in the middle and nuke for 1.5 min. for hot cereal or 2 min. for more of a muffin type thing. Great low carb, high fiber treat. Suggested for daily fiber needs.

The first 2 weeks you can have several cups a day of (mostly) lettuce and celery, cucumbers, radishes, mushrooms, peppers and more variety of vegetables thereafter add 5 grams per day additional (20 grams day first 2 weeks, 25grams 3rd week, 30grams 4th week etc) every week til you gain weight, then you subtract 10 carbs. That would give you your personal carb level (everyone is different and it depends on how active you are.) Start with meat & fats & salads for a couple of weeks and then you can slowly add in every week more green veg, fresh cheeses, nuts & seeds, berries, alcohol - if you drink, legumes, other fruits, starchy veg and lastly whole grains. You will learn how your body reacts to different foods.

Many people gain weight on high carb, then switch to low carb to lose weight & then are shocked when they return to high carb that they gain weight. Many people can return to moderate carb levels but very few can really eat all they want of sugar and maintain weight or health.
