Where can I get reasonable dinnerware sets?

I am looking for a square white modern set. The cheapest I have found was at Walmart a set of four including mugs,dinner plate, appetizer plate, and salad bowls. I am looking for at least a set of six for the same price. Any help would be appreciated. I have also checked the following:

dinnerware containing lead-based paint sold in Ikea or Target stores?

How do you tell if there is lead in your dinnerware? Any warning label? WHat about buying products from a chinesebazaar in chinatown? I wanted to buy a tea set, but do you think it had lead?

Many years ago somebody discovered that a chemical compound called Titanium Dioxide was much more refractive than Lead Oxide, much lighter, completely non-toxic, and much much cheaper.

Since that time all pigments in paints and packaging, plastics paper and the loaf of white bread and a 'mars bar' you just bought, - have contained Titanium Dioxide. You eat at least a kilo of it each year, and spend all your time dressed in, and living in coats of the stuff.

The bottom fell out of the Lead Paint market as soon as this stuff hit the production lines - so forget about the lead poisoning scares, they are urban myths spread by dumb tv presenters and people.

Where can I get fun plates for my apartment?

My roommate and I are getting an apartment for next semester and we need dinnerware. We both like bright colors and fun shapes. I've found sets, but they're so expensive. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Catering my own wedding, would rather buy cheap china plates than rent or buy plastic. Where can I get the cheapest. I've looked at restaurant supply and Ikea, but if anyone knows a specific website or someplace I've overlooked...would love to know. Thanks.

Wal-Mart and Target both have inexpensive sets in white or a light pattern. Or you could have fun with it and go to a thrift store and pick out a bunch of different patterns to mix and match!
