I'm having a baby a want an everyday dinnerware set to use for most meals instead of the china my dad gave me when I first moved out. I will probably not let my daughter use the china until she is 6 or 7.

Depends on your taste. I like the blue best, and the white one least. What colors are your kitchen and dining room. Pick the one that matches those the best.

I need color in my dull kitchen!?

I have a very dull kitchen! We are not allowed to paint so i have to work with what i have. I am really bad a this sorta stuff so i was hoping for a lil help. I have this picture in our dinning room and i wanted to work with colors from it. Right now I am looking for a new dinnerware set. I need to know what color would be best to go with this pic and where i could find it. Ideas for everything else would be greatly appreciated.

the cabinets are a very light peach. The walls, which in every room are the same, is a light salmon, and the floor in the kitchen is grey. Yeah i know, yuck!

I would use blue as your decorating color. It goes well with white and matches the photo. Ice blue would be particularly nice.

What are some good suggestions for good quality, but not too pricey bakeware and dinnerware for a gift?

My favorite look right now is the Sango Nova sets. They are very beautiful w/ warm earthy looks and tones, and at prices I can work with, but according to reviews, crack spontaneously after very light use. I just want nice looking, affordable, and DURABLE cookware (lasagna and casserole dishes) and dinnerware. No silicone. Thank in advance!

Pyrex or Corningware for the casseroles...NO DOUBT!

As for skillets go with a good cast iron pan. A Lodge or even an enameled one. An enameled one will be a bit pricey,but if taken care of both should last forever & a day. I have one that was my great-grams from the turn of the century & use it all the time.

Try to put quality above looks. It's more important in the long run.
If it's going to be used often who cares what it looks like. It's going to get something burned in it eventually then scrubbed & stored in the fridge & so on & so on & probably something with kids & a dog thrown in there too. ; )

If it's going to be more for a 'decoration' hanging on a pot rack...let them buy it themselves. They're the ones who'll have to look at it.

As far as dinnerware go for a plain white or off white that way whatever the sceme in the kitchen/dining room it'll match.

Any suggestions for planning a nice Thanksgiving dinner?

I wanted to host our families Thanksgiving dinner this year but my apartment isn't big enough for the 20+ people that we will be having. My bf is a great cook so he is in charge of most of the food and everyone else is just bringing small dishes or appetizers. I'm making pumpkin rolls and cranberry sauce. As far as decorations go I'm using the big 4 wick candles and putting grapes, apples and pears around them. I made a tablecloth by gathering leaves and using fabric paint to stamp them onto a plain white table cloth. I also have ideas for other decorating but what I want to know is, would it be totally tacky to use disposable plates? I'm willing to buy nice ones but I just don't want myself or anyone else to have to deal with a lot of dishes after we eat. I'd rather just relax, play some games maybe and watch football. Any suggestions about dinnerware or any other decorations or anything would be appreciated! Thanks!
Ooops I forgot to mention that the dinner will be held at my uncle's house since he has a huge house and is going through a divorce so it is just him there. I hate my small apartment!

It is Thanksgiving , so the most important part is for your family and friends to feel welcomed, comfortable, and to have a good time. Try thinking of it as more of a celebration that you get to host your way. Over the years I have been to all types of Thanksgiving dinners and have hosted quite a few myself. One of the best and is still talked about by everyone is the a little non-traditional. My dad had moved into a new house, but it was also in the middle of a kitchen remodel. There ended up being about 30 people there and everything that could possibly go wrong did. First the pipe under the kitchen sink burst, then the storm knocked out the power before all the food was done so my dad fired up his BBQ and borrowed his neighbors BBQ to finish the turkey, biscuits, etc. The food was served buffet style with good disposable plates, glasses, napkins and flatware. We had multiple tables set up in the living room and dining room with lots of candles and a fire in the fireplace. It was gorgeous and fun. Everyone had a great time and ate too much, and I don't think that they gave a second thought to what kind of plate they were eating off of, but it was nice being able to enjoy my family and be stuck in the kitchen doing 10,000 extra dishes. There will already be plenty to do with all the serving bowls and platters. I say make it fun, special and your own.

By the way pumpkin rolls sound really tasty. Care to share the recipe?

What is the cost to set up a restaurant to cater for not more than 50 people at a time with respect to items?

I mean a restaurant that is going to serve in house or take away. The contents include dinnerware, kitchen supplies, restaurant supplies,disposable supplies, janitorial supplies and parts and accessories.
The main items to be cooked here are lunch and dinner only. No breakfast food. Most food serve will be rice, chicken, soup, mostly tropical food items. Also drinks will be served. soft drinks and beer only, no liquor for this setup. Thanks

Were can i find really cheap plastic dinnerware?

every year i always get the same stuff for my boyfriends mom.... Glass plates, or a kitchen supply. or cutlery etc..... and the reason i keep getting her that is because she always complain about her plates being broken etc.... so this year i was thinking of getting a family of four set of "plastic" dinnerware. What do you think? Where can i get this cheap?
she was a husband and two boys ( boyfriend and younger brother) that are so rough with their plates so naturally they break.

Have you thought about Corelle? It's really durable, looks like glass or regular china, and is pretty inexpensive, too. You can get it in several different places, I think even Walmart carries it, or you can get it online at Amazon.

You may have seen their commercials with the fashion model walking down the runway carrying a dish, she trips, drops the dish, which just bounces around the runway...they really are that durable!
